In which Steenbeck embarrasses herself again with the help of GarageBand

Nervous laugh...

This is only the second song I've ever tried with garageband, and the first time I've tried to record a voice, so...HA HA HA

  3. What's it called? Did you write it? Did you record the voice from the mic that comes in the computer?

(Blimpy, you should know better than to use old Banya material)

  4. Thanks! Yes, I wrote it; it doesn't have a name yet; and yes, I used that pinhole-sized microphone in the computer. Doesn't seem like it should work, does it?

  5. Check this out, it's quite amazing.

  6. Pinhole mike! There's the song title for you! I loved it.

  7. -ejd- what's a "banya", please?

  8. It referred to the line above the comment box about Ovaltine, it's a line from Banya, who's a character in Seinfeld. More here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kenny_Bania

  9. Scrap that, the line is one that Jerry gave to Banya, as prooved here:

  10. @ejd - the penny didn't drop, cos I've only ever heard his name spoken. Yeah, Banya's the one from Seinfeld who I was quoting - with his rubbish banter and all.

I have spent the last 2 months watching all 180 episodes of Seinfeld -no wonder my brain is addled.

Like, what's the deal with decaff; how do they get the caffiene out, and where does it go?

I think I aLREADY posted the brunch/lupper shizzle.

  11. Yes you did, I remember it fondly.
For some reason "...the very pants I was about to return" has been sticking in my mind. From when Kramer sells his stories to J. Peterman.

  12. Now I've seen the lyrics, I'll dond it for last weekend's theme

  13. I was going to nominate it for that other blog this week--the one about rotten lyrics.

  14. Wonderful. Reminded me of St Etienne - which is a good thing in my book - not just the vocals but also the main horn part. Marginally less persuaded by the drum'n'bass interludes, but that's just because I'm old...

At this rate we're going to need a RR Compilation tape (mustn't forget Blimpy's glorious Run JAMC track). As a PC user I don't have Garageband, but I've found an open-source sequencer programme and intend to start experimenting.

Where can I find the lyrics?

  15. Depends on the monkey, like that one that's as big as a thumb.
Abahachi: click on the clip, but not on the play button.

  16. Thanks Ejaydee. Yes, I printed the lyrics on a youTube video with the idea that I'd rather be embarrassed by what I actually said than by what people might mischievously misinterpret my mumbles as saying. Wait, what monkey?

Thanks for your kind words, Abahachi!! that drum and bass part is actually from a Mikey Dread song. I didn't realize he had died until later that evening when I saw Blimpy's post.

And Blimpy, when are you going to post Run JAMC and any of your other mashups? Podbean has been very compliant lately, and youTube is a faithful old friend.

  17. Ohhhh, do you mean the monkey that FP is biting?

  18. That's the one.... New species of monkey eating frog, anyone? Give David Attenborough a call someone.

  19. Blimey, that's impressive - lovely tune that romps along, great chorus, and interesting lyrics (betraying your filmmaker roots). With a decent mic, this would be straight into the RR top hundred, with a bullet. The refrain is an earworm already...keep it up.
