toffeeboy. Your first is 'Everything But the Girl'. I like them but have a problem with that song. If Caruso is only 'almost' as good as Elvis why did Elvis not cause the epiphany?
ReplyDelete@cb - I agree that it doesn't entirely make sense but I think there's a touch of irony at play here. Personally, I think it's one of Ben Watt's best lyrics. The line about "The holidays at Oban and the towns around Montrose" is one of the most evocative images I've ever heard in song. There's something so down to earth and real about it.
