Nerdcast

My thanks to half a bottle of Georgian red wine and the lovely Nilpferd cow, without whose help this production would never have been possible. Apologies in advance to Trekkies, those born under the sign of Aries, Bagpipe lovers and anyone else I may have offended during the course of this podcast.
Further apologies for a few technical glitches, for the odd inaccuracy, and for saying the word "guitar" about a thousand times.

  1. Really excited that you are all doing these wee radio programmes. The Cannonball Adderly was brilliant as was that Ninja track. Like the Verlaines too. Mind you, you're dissing yourself - you could have called it a...Hippocast! Like Frau Hippo pipping up 'Not German' in the corner. Tee Hee. Ooh Richard Galliano and M. Portal. Think I've seen him in concert. Schön!

  2. Thanks FP! The Nerdcast sort of named itself. I was toying with Swampcast for a while. Hippocast has a nice ring, it's true. Next time.. and next time I'll try to get the other two hippos onto the mic..

  6. My bandwidth is due to reset at 8.22 am each morning so it should be available again now, apologies for any frustration caused.
I had to use Boxstr as the filesize was too large for Podbean, and I'm too cheap to sign up properly... Ain't technology great...

  7. Hmm.. that is probably 8.22am US eastern seaboard..

  8. I think it actually is US western seaboard, so in 3 hrs.

  9. Alaska, or perhaps Hawaii.. Boxstr informs me I last reset 20 hrs ago..
    *heavy sigh*

  10. Boxstr is still using it's clever trick of maximising anticipation, by denying instant gratification.

  11. I have in my possession a download of the much anticipated Nerdcast. Not had a chance to listen yet but am toying with the idea of selling it on e-bay.

High demand + low supply = wealthy shoegazer

  12. I like how Last.fm tells me Neil is actually the character from the Young Ones and not our own Nilpferd. Unless...

  13. God... the pressure!!! I need a slap in the face with a wet towel, or preferably a double whisky.. Act fast, shoey, before the value of your new asset plummets.. ie someone else listens to it..
EJ, I am a neilpferd besides being a nilpferd.. the source of much agony for me during my early student days, when the young ones were happening...

  14. ..Lastfm doesn't know that, though.. I'm WhatIsay there...

  15. Ah well you should join the group then, it needs one more member to have any use.

  16. Can't wait to listen!! As soon as I get home.

  17. EJ- you mean the Readers Recommend lastfm group? I tried searching for it but couldn't find it- how do I join?

    ReplyDelete
  18. I think I just sent you, on last.fm, the page for it.

  19. I see what you mean about Neil's Nerdcast EJD.. freaky. I have So Absolutely Nothing To Do With That.

  20. Hey nilpferd - I still haven't been able to listen to the Nerdcast - I'm looking forward to it. Glad you've joined the last.fm group - remember, it's not just a group, it's a movement!

Blimpy - could we have a link to it on the Linkity Links bit? I assume that you're OK with it???

  21. Loved the Nerdcast, liked all the tracks, and how the Big Beat song seemed to be going nowhere in particular and then suddenly soars, sort of like No Name Bar by Isaac Hayes, and was amused by the German accent making its way in every once in a while.

  22. I thought the track by the polish Village Band reminded me of a song by VU, Venus In Furs, but better.

  23. tried earlier today and it wouldn't let me, so I am now downloading for safe-keeping.

  24. Cheers EJD! German accent- ha... I was- um- just doing that on purpose.. (note to self- must eat more kiwifruit and fewer bratwürste)
I saw Warsaw village band in concert without knowing anything about them and it blew me away- they were all about 22 yrs old but were playing these ancient folk songs, the vocals were very powerful in a small pub.
I liked a lot of that big beat stuff in the nineties, Beats by dope demand was another good sampler series.
When's the EJ PC coming out?

  25. Bandwidthwise it must be available now..

  26. There are lots of other things you can do with an accordion. Hmmm...

Have to take the boys to a thing at the library. 1/2way through and LOVE it so far.

  27. EJ podcast not on its way, but I have to admit the more I hear, the more I'm motivated to do one. Then you can hear my accent oscillate between American, English, and French, and then Scottish for some reason.

  28. Nope, I hardly ever speak English to Brazilians, but if I did I might catch it. Since English is not my mother tongue, I have no natural accent, so I'll mimic anybody's I'm talking to.
