Eye Don't See It?

What no blog on the mothership yet? It's going to be another giant of a theme, so will limit this week's playlist to songs by artists not yet in the A-Z.

Somebody Touch I
Your Blue Eyes
Can You See Me Shining?
Keep Your Eyes Ahead
Little Bo Peep
4 Hours
Stargazer
Blind
Blackout

1) African Head Charge, with the wrong kind of eye, but so many of them it seemed a good place to start. 2) A Certain Ratio from their major label period. 3) Pete Shelley & Howard Devoto, 2 Buzzcocks reunite for an interesting album. 4) The Helio Sequence, chugging along. 5) Phillip Roebuck - blazing one-man-band. 6) Clock DVA's classic 7) Zephyrs, with a beautiful song 8) Hercules & Love Affair, Antony's new project 9) Chris Garneau - one of my favorite recent discoveries.

  3. No Shane, that's 29 weeks of RR in the archive for this year!

Anyway, late for work so here's what I'll no doubt have to edit, cut & paste much much later:

    **********

CAVEAT – THIS LIST PUT TOGETHER WHILST WAITING FOR A NON-APPEARING BLOG … and why, pray, is it late? It isn’t Bank Hol Weekend for a couple of weeks yet! Anyway, with advance apologies for nominating other people’s suggestions and songs that don’t actually fit the brief, last night I thought:

Oh Blimey! [B’dum tish!] Gonna be huge!

    We’ve had Gary Gilmore’s Eyes, or that’d be a shoo-in.

Alan Parsons Project – Eye In The Sky (preferably as a twin track Sirius / Eye In The Sky. Depends how you see the album tracklisting).

If we’re going to have Angel Eyes, can it at least be The Czars version, please?

Elvis Costello – Watching The Detectives

    The Melvins – Going Blind

AC/DC – Dirty Eyes. This is the original title for Whole Lotta Rosie. I’ve introduced the socialisers to it and love it particularly for the little laugh from Bon Scott at the beginning, which is equal parts Sid James and Barbara Windsor.

KT Tunstall – Suddenly I See

The Pogues – A Pair Of Brown Eyes.

Bjork – I See Who You Are

    Kiss – X-Ray Eyes.
C’mon! Sooner or later, Kiss are going to get in, and this typical piece of thinly disguised lechery could be the one, no? . . . No? Humpf. Please yerselves.

UFO – Looking Out For No.1

Califone – The Eye You Lost In The Crusades.

Micah P. Hinson – You Lost Sight Of Me

Golden Smog – Frying Pan Eyes.

The Who – I Can See For Miles

    Rilo Kiley – Spectacular Views

Captain Beefheart – Her Eyes Are A Blue Million Miles.
I don’t really do CapnB’s weirdness thing, so this straight-ahead love song (at least that’s how I hear it: please don’t ruin it for me, Beefhearters!) will do nicely, thanks.

The Black Crowes – Seeing Things
The Black Crowes – Could I Have Been So Blind

    Try again with…
Sinead O’Connor – Damn Your Eyes.
    Just heartbreaking.

I’d Rather Go Blind. Etta James, Chicken Shack, even (DsD fave version) Ruby Turner; not bothered who, just flippin’ pick it!

    Shawn Mullins – Amy’s Eyes
