Let's talk about Socials, Baby

So that's what you look like!

So June is approaching, and plans for the next RR social seem to be stalling. Let's agree on a location and a date right here right now!

PROPOSED LONDON DATES: 11TH or 18TH JULY

Metal Guru, where are you? We've yet to meet the 3 that came next.

  1. Refresh me again, who are these people, is there anyone we know there?

  2. If it's in June, I doubt if I can make it due to terrifying looming deadline; July might be possible.

Slightly different subject; we ought to have a link in the sidebar to the RR Map...

  3. Well June suits me fine and being in London now makes things a bit easier. I'm happy to travel, though, dates allowing.

Where was the last one held, anyway?

  4. Back row L-R:

murphsup, gordonimmel, DarceysDad, ejaydee, er...Damn, is Alison Catcher or carefree? Sorry, Ali), GarethI.

    Front row L-r:

    tarxien, Dorian, Mnemonic.

Just get it done, and then I'll tell you if I can make it. Much as I hate London, we stand a much better chance of getting Dorian, Maddy, RobF or Paul to attend

  5. London, clearly, is good for me. And June is potentially OK. Anyone care to suggest a date/place?

  6. If it's in London, I rather liked the venue of the last one with that large upstairs room with tables.

  7. It's fine if everybody's willing to come down to London, but, given our strong Northern contingent, we could plan for a Northern Social later on, in the same breath. I mean plan it now but to happen in later in the year.
I realise June is a bit early, so how about the weekend of the 11th of July?
Same venue as last time would be just fine

Were any overseas RRers planning on visiting these shores this summer?

  8. Definitely up for a Northern social, of course. Not my turn to organise though.

Last London venue was indeed good, so donds for that.

Can't comment on dates til I get home and in front of the diary. Can't do last full week in August anywhere unless it's in Cardigan!!

  9. Hi everyone,
Just back from a couple of days down South (Lake Constance, on the Swiss border) and roughly 1,500 posts to catch up on!
Ed, I am hoping to come over with the kids mid-August... BUT as long as I can organise a babysitter, and as long as we're near enough to Stansted for me to get the first flight home the next morning I would try and make whatever date you all settle for... EXCEPT July 11th, cos my boy's got his first official open-air gig that afternoon (he played to a packed pub in Konstanz Friday evening, where friends were holding a party, and I haven't come back down to earth yet).
    Cheers!

  10. 16th to the 19th of July is the Latitude festival.. so then isn't good either!

  11. Might be able to do a Lunnon tahn meet, let me know agreed dates.

  12. Most of the weekends in June, July, August are still free, London is fine, thanks to Thalys & Eurostar it takes me less time to get there from here as it takes me to get to Amsterdam.....

  13. I would attend, but I'm notoriously shy...

  14. That excuse doesn't wash Blimpy, I'm notoriously very shy...

  15. The weekend of 11 July is good for me - any other takers?

  16. July 11th could go either way with me: it's Buxton carnival.
On the one hand, that's where I'll be expected to be; on the other, with DarceysMam and the girls at Granny's, I may find it easier to get a pass ...

Carry on amongst yourselves, but keep me informed.

  17. Its not on for me, I'm afraid, as one of my best friends is getting married that weekend but, as DsD says, don't let that stop plans being made.

    Toot.

  18. Hmm I'd rather have you two involved, how's the week after?

  19. As usual, I managed to miss my place in the class photo..but I WAS there folks!

I might be able to make 11 July, but the following weekend wouldve suited me better probly. Plan to be in London at least one weekend in July, and if not, definitely in August. I'll just try to fit myself around everyone else's plans if I can.

  20. Weekend of 18 July is equally good for me.

  21. DsD family calendar currently empty for weekends of 18th & 25th July, and for 1st & 15th August, but don't amend any plans on my account for a London Social - chances of my attending are not good, unless business takes a massive and rapid upturn.

    :o(

  22. Oh, and it's Carefree doing the rose-between-two-thorns bit on the photo from last year.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Yup, 18th is fine for me, no 1930s-themed-garden-party weddings that weekend yet.

  24. Sorry, count me out of any London Social for this year. As I may have mentioned elsewhere, I've been severely credit-crunched recently so a boozy weekend in London is out of the question. I'd still be up for a Northern Social although if it's in the Autumn, it's still too early for me to be sure when I'm free.

  25. Ah! Just seen gordonimmel's comment. And having had a conversation over coffee (OK,OK a wimpy hot chocolate, I admit it) with DaddyPig this afternoon, his chances of a pass are remote too.

So if I haven't got a petrol sharer or two, I'm likely to be too boracic for a London trip as well.

It'll have to be the Northern one again ...

    ReplyDelete
  26. ... which - as no-one else seems to want to take a hint - I'll put together for the autumn.

Email me, anyone who is up for an evening out up here. (If you give me a minute or two I'll re-establish the link in my Blogger profile.)

  27. I was hiding behind Sourpus when the photo was taken.

I can do either 11th or 18th July.

I assume we'll invite all 4 gurus once we have a fixed date?

    ReplyDelete
  28. Why oh why did I decide to leave early? No one told me there was going to be photos!

Oh well, any of the mentioned dates look equally possible for me.
Hey! Why not make it South London this time?

    ReplyDelete
  29. Summer is always going to be a problem for someone, and plans are already made. Might be better to set a late Sept date in London and give ppl a chance to plan & save for it. But that's just my two pence worth. I doubt I'd be able to do one before then due to family plans and the cost thereof.

DsD, when it comes to it, petrol sharing is fine with me from wherever our paths would intersect.

  30. While I'm based "'oop north" I've got family close to London, and an RR social sounds like a good excuse to pay them a visit. If I can travel all the way to Gloucester just for a gig....

Looks like either the 11th or the 18th are OK for me at the moment :)
