Mos Def releases album on CD, Vinyl, Cotton. . .

According to Pitchfork, 'Spill favourite Mos Def is releasing his new album on t-shirt as well as other formats.
(the front of the t-shirt is the front cover, the tracklist is on the back, and the music is on the label).

In these dying days of physical music media sales, I wonder what new format you would like folks to release on?

Personally I'd like the next Animal Collective LP released as a beard, where you can only hear the music if you have the beard on.
The new Dinosaur Jr album could be released on sloth, where it'll only sing small parts - if it can be bothered - before slumping back into a neo-coma.
The next Razorlight album might as well just be a google map emailed to you when you buy it, showing the location of the landfill that it has been pre-buried in, to save you the bother of throwing it in the bin.

A 2 foot tall, $500 Pixies box set, you say? Already happened my friends...

Over to you!

  1. The next Babyshambles album will be available to download intravenously (comes with a free (pre-owned) syringe).

  3. Actually, don't laugh, I once had this idea, which I then forgot about, because it was before the technology existed to make it viable. Now though . . .

Doorbells with fingerprint readers - depending on who's at the front door, the sound is a track of your pre-programmed choice.

As an example, if I did have one of these, my brother-in-law would set off The Zutons' Bumbag:

    Am I a bad person??

  4. All future Oasis albums will be packaged in the form of a dead horse and will only play if beaten repeatedly with the specially-attached "Will This Do?" stick.

  6. Look at Manuel Goettsching's Facebook site - he's released E2 E4 as a Battenburg cake. Which is nice.

(I nearly looked then for a split second too, until I realised nobody could possibly eat that much Battenburg cake in one sitting!)

  9. Should have gone with a Mos Def hearing aid/translation device to get a whole new audience. "What was that sonny? Let me turn it up."

  12. SIgh, I know. But I really think he's misrepresented by that. I'm assuming that by "stuff white people like" they mean not threatening or thought-provoking in any way, and Mos Def is very outspoken about holding controversial political beliefs. Have they heard that Bin Laden track? Have they?

  13. I think what they mean by "Stuff White People Like" they mean, what people like in Brooklyn, Portland, Golborne Road, etc. I like how he warns not to engage with the "wrong" white people (conservatives).

  14. Actually DsD, your doorbell idea isn't that for off my next make it big idea. (Like the others, it will probably be non-profit. I'm a very giving person that way).

Although come to think of it, why hasn't anyone come up with doorbell ring tones? It wouldn't be hard to do.

But I digress. I want to market Vroomtones. They got these electric cars coming, and apparently they are so quiet they are dangerous 'cause people step out in front of them. Most people I know, I can't see the problem, but that's just me. So anyways, lecky car makers are going to sput speakers in them and play car sounds so people can hear them coming. I can just imagine people will want to order their own vanity engine sound. I figure, why not sell them as downloads since cars seem to have enough computer bits in them anyway.

    Maybe I'll start with doorbells.
