  5. Happy Blimpday Birthy.

(Still convinced that Proudfoot is Speng - where has he got to, by the way?)

  7. Woo! Happy Birthday, oh Blimpmeister.

Did anyone else notice the thinly veiled message displayed at the England v Germany U21 international the other night. Just in front of a huge advertising banner for a firm with the magnificent name of Spenge, Dudenhof & Sohn was a smaller sign with the single word Toto. Now surely that's more than a coincidence!!!!!

  14. hi everyone!

thanks for all the lovely messages, you;ve made me feel very happy! !

steenbeck - thanks for the cool post, it was a top suprise when i woke up this morning

I'm at work today (well, it's called that...) but hopefully will get some cake when i get home.

as for the identity of Speng - i know most people assume it's me - i can assure you it's not. i have my suspicions, speng has a gmail account as his registered email, and because of this I think it must be......

    either.......

    sourpus, ejaydee, or snadfrod!!!

  15. Blimpy - a very smelly birthday to you, big man!

As for Speng, alas, I wish I could channel such a sophisticate, but it is not I. The search goes on...

  16. The Stig was 'unveiled' Sunday.
might as well out speng and zorro and the tooth fairy - oh wait, thats George Michael

Happy birthday Blimp. You've greeted so many of us with open arms - it's appreciated.

  22. Well I had to log in to wish Blimpy a joyeux anniversaire! Well done, you made it through another year.
Also I am not Speng, but I have my suspicions too, and I don't think it's Blimpy.

  23. Thanks, ejay! -but who do you think Speng is? !

  25. Blimpy, Happy Birthday - sorry not to come up with something more memorable as a birthday wish but I'm distracted by that bombshell (or bombspeng) from sourpus.

    Unless of course, he's double-bluffing.....

  26. Did that just happen? Is that what I think it is?

    I need a lie down...

    SOURPUS FINALLY ADMITS IT!!!!!

    AT LAST!!!

    I knew it wasn't me!!!

  28. no double bluff.

I've always had a thing for creating characters. Brian Speng the 70's office lothario just dropped onto my plate fully formed. I took one look at him and boom.

    So Viz.

I had him retire to Mallorca so he would never get too far away. I even had plans to bring him back someday, perhaps with a weekly blog (entitled either 'Brian Speng - Lounge Lizzard' or simply 'Andy's Cock'; I have a great picture of Andy Williams holding a chicken I was hoping to use) or even a podcast (why not?) playing 'hot hits' from the 70's easy listening bin. Wouldve done it too if the technology had been easier to obtain out here where I am and if I was more intent on settling here.

Trust no offence is taken. Only the hardest of hearts would convict me.

    "Sayonara my young friends!"

  29. And I tip my hat to you, sourpus.

Speng is utterly convincing, and somewhat creepy in his apparent authenticity. I was one of those who had absolutely no bleedin' idea who it was, and to be honest was a little disturbed by that. From that viewpoint, it is a relief to have him/you outed.

Most excellent work, just don't do it again, OK?!

    :o}

  30. Fair enough DD. He was always intended to be a kind of 'Sven from Swiss Cottage' idea, a la Peter Cook (not that I am fit to clean his royal slippers) If you had damned me with faint praise, I would have considered B Speng a total failure. Im glad he wasn't.

Back to being a plain old 'pus then, I suppose.

    ReplyDelete
  31. OK - I was utterly convinced it was Blimpy. In fact I had no doubt whatsoever. Just goes to show how little I know ...

    ReplyDelete
  32. Happy birthday, sir.
That's a clear bluff above, though. It's like The Usual Suspects. Speng will be the guy with a limp.

    ReplyDelete
  33. And is sourpus one of those admins who can edit other people's posts and pix?

    ReplyDelete
  34. tincan, not me mate. There's a definite limit to my IT skills

    ReplyDelete
  35. @garethL - I've never limp, sir!

    ReplyDelete
  36. sourpus - speng was frighteningly real, well done!
