Push

Was looking for some films to watch with the kids, & we decided on this one. Reason for posting is it had the BEST soundtrack I've heard in a long time & the movie wasn't bad either (x-men/x-files thing; government agents & gangsters with psychic powers chasing our heroes through Hong Kong. A bit like "Jumper", except it didn't suck.). Anyhow, there does not seem to be an official soundtrack album, so here are a few tracks to give an idea. Anyone else recommend a great movie soundtrack?

  1. I was just thinking of the movie Irma Vep...it has Sonic Youth, Luna's cover of Bonnie & Clyde, Ali Farka Touré...

And I'm obliged to say that Jim Jarmusch always has good soundtracks to his films--like Mulatu Astatké in Broken Flowers. Spike Lee's films always have wonderful soundtracks as well...

  2. Are we talking soundtracks or original scores here?
The soundtracks to Crooklyn are responsible for a lot the music I listen to.

  3. A number of the Bond film soundtracks have great incidental music, besides that my favourite soundtrack-out-of-existing-music albums would be "Out of sight" and "Ghost Dog", although it seems to be difficult to find a single album for the latter which combines the good RZA tracks with Armagideon Time, etc.
There's obviously Spill favourite L'Ascenseur Pour L'Echafaud, by Miles Davis, as well as his brilliant Tribute to Jack Johnson. The other Davis soundtrack I have is Siesta, although it's a bit uneven.

  6. The soundtrack to Herzog's Grizzly Man, by Richard Thompson. There's a 'making of the soundtrack' documentary on the DVD, which is very interesting.

Don't let the kids watch the film, though.

Pulp fiction, 9 and a half weeks, Risky business, Sliver. Stuck in an 80s timewarp as usual....BTW I loved the Ben Stiller night in the museum thingy if you and the kids haven't seen it. Loved Wall-E and apparently Up is brilliant too. Just in case...
