I'm thinking about 'spilling an A-Z of Scottish music (with samples), it'd err more on the side of the obscure and alternative, as per my record collection...so
@ blimpy - I'd love to hear what you have in mind. I'd also like to contribute but I'm not sure that my Scottish stuff would be obscure enough. Unless I dig up some C86-era material from the attic ...
Great idea, but bah to samples, always leave you wanting more or less, but thoroughly unsatisfied either way. Would make a great 4 or 5 part series - a few letters a week? When done, someone else could start a new one on a new theme?
Going one step further, 3 or 4 for each letter and let people discuss and vote. Same idea as someone I know does for album of the month, which always produces some interesting comments.
Nah, democracy is over-rated. My AOTM is all tied up with no decision & it's September already. Blimpy should & will do as he damn well pleases like any benevolent dictator (but let's hope it's not another "loft in music"). Highly recommend Rob Da Bank's A-Z Bestival btw (unless you don't like electronic stuff).
Shoey, the only bad thing about loft in music was the bad poetry on that thread. And you were responsible for that mate. I think Aye Tunes is a good title, grudgingly accepting that I can't come up with a better pun. And of course I'll read it. How do we chip in though Blimpy?
@proudfoot - i think i'll start it off, and then at the end of the post i'll say which letter will be next, and if anyone's got recommendations they can email me via the sidebar.
Was there another Loft in Music? Was referring to the one where Blimpy found an obscure tune in his loft. It was a great idea for a series, but nobody else has posted one yet.
Ah I see. Yes, it did fizzle out. Maybe no-one has lofts. I did find a 'Soundtrack of our Lives' single from the late 90s t'other day.It was wedged under the bookcase. It wasn't very good. All the music in my attic is on cassettes so I can't really drop it. Aye Tunes is a much better idea, 'tis true.
also, if anyone would like to help me, that would be top drawer!
ReplyDeleteGo ahead. I've been thinking about the same for Spanish stuff. We need the variety.
ReplyDeleteUnder the Kilt is pretty predictable I suppose
ReplyDeleteOffKilter?
I've Been A Naughty Boy So Spank Me?
Haggis Pop?
Sean Who?

ReplyDeleteIn my mental A-Z of Scottish Indie artistes, I got stuck on Q for a while, but found a classic. Anticipate falling at the x hurdle.
