  2. You bugger!
I was going to post this VERY clip several weeks ago when everyone was fawning over Jazz...but I bottled it...so you are braver than me! (actually I didn't want everyone to shout at me again and make me soil mesen...)

  3. @toffeeboy - thanks for the Babybird ref- I absolutely love SJ's stuff and have seen him a couple of times doing bare, stripped-down sets - great stuff. Totally agree with you about albums and must say he is a massively under-rated artist. "You're Gorgeous2 was such a big hit fro him , it's almost as if he actually hated having it!

  4. @ gremlinfc (with apologies to the blimpy one for hijacking his thread) I think that unfortunate hits (or hits that the artists may have regretted having) would make a great topic for a brand new thread.

You're Gorgeous definitely qualifies - here are two more that sprung instantly to mind:

Prefab Sprout - The King Of Rock & Roll
Orange Juice - Rip It Up

  5. Actually we can neatly bring this back to the original jazz theme by quoting from the closing moments of Babybird's King Bing:

Oh. I'm getting into Jamiraquoi territory now, man. Fucking stop it dead now. Shut the drummer up. Shove it up the arse! Saxophone - fuck off! Yeah, be bop a lula be bop boo, yeah.
    Wiggy wiggy wack wack,
    Wiggy wiggy wack wack,
Wiggy wiggy wiggy wiggy wiggy wiggy wack.
    Wack wack wiggy wiggy,
    Wack wack wiggy wiggy,
Wig wig wig wig wig wig wack.
Bad jazz for white folks ... assholes.

If you don't know the song, all that probably sounds/looks a bit strange. Actually if you do know the song, it's still a bit strange! Fantastic song, though - all 9 minutes 54 seconds of it ...

  8. Nah then dudes - I seem to remember reading that Thom Yorke really regretted penning "Creep" after it became THE song that audiences wanted at gigs above all others and they would even boo them if they didnt play it...am i right?

  9. Apparently France Gall refused to ever sing "Les succettes" after Serge Gainsbourg revealed that it was a dirty song about sucking ahem , other things, but being a naive ( for that read stoooopid) 19year old French girl she really thought it was about lollies...

  10. Last one for now - Skinhead O'connor ended up hating Prince and THAT song after (a bit like "Creep") it took over her gigs and stuff and was heard to respond at a gig when someone shouted the song title out :"F**k that f****ng midget". I sort of miss her mentalness.

  14. Is "wiggy wiggy wank wank" the new Elton John song?

  15. @ shane - you may be right. Not exactly Shakespeare, I'll agree, but surely one of the best ever pop music rants?

  16. Every jazz night I've ever been at has been exactly like this. Either I'm going to the wrong clubs, or this is a documentary.
