Here or there?

So, shall we stay here? or go over here?

Quick, call the cops - Bassey's been robbed!

  1. lovely tune!

I like here because we are used to it.. and wouldn't have to learn anything new.

but the other one has useful tabs at the top (home and about at the moment)

if those tabs were added to:
    Home (for new random post)
RR (the weeks playlist get their own home)
    earworm
    podcasts
    spillharmonic
    recipes

it would make finding them easier.. and djing could be kept in order!

  2. blimey, blimpy, how did you do that? I like the index down the right...
Anyhow, that seems a pretty good insurance against the googlegotchas! Will WP just carry on mirroring from now?

  3. ghe - wp will catch up when i tell it.

shane - tabby tabs could be very good i agree

i think we carry in here, til over there is all feathered and nice

  4. If we can get the same stuff down the sidebar or in tabs across the top as we have here, I'd say "there", just to get away from the dystopian hypocrites we're currently passively supporting.

I particularly like the search function over on wordpress.

  5. What mp3 player do we use for posts over there? It doesn't seem to like the yahoo player. I would miss the stream of playlists. If that can be sorted & cost is reasonable - go for it.

  6. There looks good to me but I don't understand the nuances of it all so will bow to those of you who know what you're talking about (Blimpy)

  7. In WP, the pop up player when you hover over a tune is pretty neat

  13. The famous 'fork in the road'. I find that curly bit on the left very seductive.
UTube tells me 'this video is not available.' you wore it out!
'Over here' looks good but there's probably a lot of questions to be asked and answered, presumably what's there is a 'beta' version just for display purposes where none of the music or comments options are functioning? In fact, do they have/allow music playlists, Spill style?
Another question might be, How safe would that site be if it carried playlists? Is it not likely to face the same problems as the Spill?

  14. Marvellous what they can do in the studio these days. What's that vocal gadget thingie called?
Oh bloody hell - resistance is useless.

take a spoonful of this to take the taste away

  15. I was all set to say what I think DsD said until I read GF's last sentence.
Seems risky to jump there, as much as I'd like to escape the clutches of Google. But makes sense to stay here and mirror/backup there until we get to know our new landlord better. Is that time consuming? I couldn't help out for a couple weeks, but after that you can have a bit of my time.

  16. I haven't been home all day. Wish I could see what blimpys obsezsional video is. I think wordpress looks good, and I like the option of different pages, but i really like getting theposts in my email. Is that still an option?

  17. Ooh! Good point, steenbeck. Yup, that's a dealbreaker, Blimpy. If I can't still have all comments emailed to me, I don't wanna move.

Now if you don't mind, my bed is calling!

I said I was off to bed two hours ago, but I've been sidetracked by a song I've just HAD to email to tinny as an earworm.

  18. @severin - aaaaah, that's better

@everyone else - i'll look into all those questions and get back to you! there is a button near the top that gives an rss feed for both omments and posts, so i think that would mean that the number of peeps who get the comms wouldn;t be limited (like it is now)

  19. i tried both rss feeds yesterday and they seem to work

  20. Automatically receiving comments and posts by email would be the deciding factor for me, especially comments. Can you receive an RSS feed by email? Mine just come through my browser.

  21. depends on your mail eJay. I use Thunderbird and it works a treat. Works in Outlook too

  22. I have just set up a WP account in case we move.

As far as I can see it looks like a comfortable place to be as long as we can still post our playlists in a straightforward way. I'd imagine it IS possible.

I am happy to stay here, until Google make it uncomfortable for us.

From what I have seen so far, WP has all the same sort of functionality as here.

  23. Another question comes to mind; Where does the Guardian's RR fit into all this, they allow readers to post live links to music? Is that any different from the Spill?
    Everything must Change?
