I wouldn't worry to much about guns. I had a few toy ones, as well as some pretty cool swords, but it was so I could pretend I was a musketeer or He-Man, it was more about the imagination. Today seeing a gun can my skin crawl. Somehow, given their mother I don't really see these boys deciding to invade the country that has the most worms in it for their own sadistic pleasure.ejaydeehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09375968795284771538noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1533372025110910037.post-75608526966366673852008-05-03T02:37:00.000+01:002008-05-03T02:37:00.000+01:00And yeah, saneshane, that gun thing is a big one. ...And yeah, saneshane, that gun thing is a big one. But if you take their toy guns away they use sticks, and if you take sticks away they use their fingers. And you're right, too, that it's not just boys. I've experienced the cruelty a group of girls can get up to, from both sides.
It's just such a worry that they have to go through some of that before they have the strength and moral sense not to become part of it. And an even bigger worry that they'll end up some kind of amoral psychopath like the men running this country at the moment. That's the stuff big-middle-of-the-night anxiety is made of.steenbeckhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14870117999742670522noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1533372025110910037.post-10644773058169581492008-05-03T02:32:00.000+01:002008-05-03T02:32:00.000+01:00my son at 3 already is going I've got a gun..I hat...my son at 3 already is going I've got a gun..I hate it..it was pop pop from 'monster in the closet' but it's picked up so quickly from what is around...unbelievable
have you seen Audio bullys 'we dont care' almost innocent compared to this...weird though having a son.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NDaLoEdOQlYsaneshanehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09876333195233262885noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1533372025110910037.post-43976049736570160292008-05-03T02:07:00.000+01:002008-05-03T02:07:00.000+01:00I went to youtube, even though I don't like the pl...I went to youtube, even though I don't like the player as much.
I see what you mean though, groups of boys are definitely trouble. I may not result in violence, but it's very likely it'll end in some sort of abuse. I guess all children have a cruel side, my niece used to slap their big lumbering sweet dog when he passed by, for absolutely no reason. Also maybe picking worms apart has a scientific side to it, unless it's accompanied by a manic laugh of course. Maybe kids are attracted to the feeling of power one gets when you're cruel to someone and they react in a certain manner that only enhances the power trip. I've done my share, so now I'm definitely vaccinated against any kind of bullying or ganging up on someone.ejaydeehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09375968795284771538noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1533372025110910037.post-40548404655411803102008-05-03T02:00:00.000+01:002008-05-03T02:00:00.000+01:00Hey, it's back! They're basically sweet, my boys, but they have these moments of curious casual cruelty that scare me--pulling worms apart in the back yard; today Isaac pushed a little girl over and ran away laughing. It feels like a big responsibility raising them to be gentle. And there's something about groups of boys...steenbeckhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14870117999742670522noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1533372025110910037.post-32499009098739056222008-05-03T00:40:00.000+01:002008-05-03T00:40:00.000+01:00I can't believe it took me a comment on youtube to...I can't believe it took me a comment on youtube to make the connection with A Clockwork Orange.ejaydeehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09375968795284771538noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1533372025110910037.post-62339856500062437372008-05-03T00:34:00.000+01:002008-05-03T00:34:00.000+01:00I'm honoured. These kids are wreaking real havoc (that's how it's done, MJ), and there's nothing funny about it.
