Having poo-pooed Chris' attempt at coming up with a measurement system for musical taste, thought you might find this interesting. Take the test & get your own music taste and personality profile.

    Haha! That's quite interesting. I'm 72,54,13,96, which makes me the introverted, outgoing, reflective life and soul of the party, which is paradoxically pretty true, depending on my mood! Scored very low on "Fun & Simple", a love of pure pop being unfairly lumped in with a deep dislike of religious and country music.

    I was 72, 92, 19, 66. Very high on "edgy and aggressive" music!
    But every point seemed to contradict each other, which kinda reflects my musical tastes!

    I got 88, 33, 25 and 7. I obviously had to avoid demanding to know what they meant by Pop etc. and I'm not 100% sure how to translate US school grades into English.

    I agree with the assessments that say I am cultured and politically liberal but not with the scores that say I'm conservative and like to relax with a romantic movie. So I'll just poo this, Shoey, rather than poo-poo it!

    Hmmm... 20, 33, 9, 12 - which seems to suggest that I don't really like music. Some of the catergories are a bit odd - something like soundtracks etc. just slightly depends on the particular soundtrack, don't you think?

    But some of the descriptions actually hit the spot. Apparently I "consider beauty and inner harmony important principles in life." Too bloody right ...

    Well I guess I'm the winner, I got:
    99 - 11 - 41 - 26
    Which obviously shows my superior intelligence, my wisdom, sophistication and love of the better things in life!
    Edgy and Aggressive, I'd have given it less than 11
    Fun & Simple. Just because I said I like opera I get lumped in with all the country rednecks and the religious right!
    Energetic etc: 26! I hate rap and hip hop, and I don't watch romance or western movies!

    But I don't think it makes sense, because, as Toffeeboy said, it depends on the soundtrack doesn't it? And I like a little bit from every genre, but I vehemently dislike a lot from most genres, too. So, I love Johnny Cash but I hate Toby Keith--Do I like Country?

    And I think it's overly reductive (is that a word?) To call hip hop "upbeat" (For instance). What? Oh, it's just a silly poll, stop over-thinking it? Okay.

    Absolute rubbish, of course, but then I have learned the hard way in the past that one should always play these things with a very straight bat. Its best to be somewhere in the middle so's that we can easily eliminate the sociopaths at either end of the scale...

    I came in with 84, 33, 67, 66 - somewhat accurate. I am not overly aggressive, tending to be somewhat of a pacifist and am very even-keeled and easy going. I do like to think of myself as somewhat intellectual which goes well with the first score. (But I do not like documentaries or artsy fartsy movies, preferring action and drama) Overall...it's interesting.
