What's Everyone Listening To Right Now This Second, Right NOW!
Okay.....what can you hear the second you read this?
Me, I'm mostly hearing the song "Young At Heart", as performed by Bluebells & King Creosote, live from the recent Homecoming gig, which I just downloaded from the always fruitful Peenko blog.
for purposes of accuracy, i'd like to point out that whilst writing that last post, the KC stopped (it wasnae any good - deleted!) and "New Dawn" by Withered Hand replaced it. In between I could vaguely hear the rain.
the second I read that.. I heard the computer hum (too loud) a can of grolsch splutter into life and the sound of my son going "...47 48 49 50 51 ah aaaa um zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz ah a a ahhhhhhhh"
yippieeeee tunes time... that last bit was me... who do you recommend?

Actually I thought this blog might be of interest to a few 'Spillers. Hard to describe the kind of music that's on there, reminds me of Pocahaunted a bit.
Lego(s) clicky clacking, and the music from L'atanlante. I'm finding a clip for Nilpferd's very inspiring choice of Clip Joint subjects. This film is so freakin beautiful.
The nine o'clock news on Spanish TV - politicians lying, that sort of thing! And Mrs Maki (so good to have her home after the scare last weekend!) and Maki junior deriding the lot of them!
blimpy "New Dawn" by Withered Hand is good.. like the end.. enjoy it when a band think - fuck it END now ra ra .. the other song I really like the words to... enjoyed yep.
Thanks Lambre. No-one is going to get that Navajo reference unless I explain that Atletico fans are known as "indians" - something to do with camping by the river (our stadium is next to the Manzanares if that can be called a river), our striped kit is like war paint, we hate the white man (Real Madrid) and we're always chasing him (below him in the league!)

but reading between the lines you're doing clip joint on Bridges right?
(no I'm not going to post lots of clips of jeff- guess that joke is old hat)
I need an answer.. what I thought of is 'Bad Timing' the Nicolas Roeg film.. I watched it when I was really young.. so the disturbing Theresa Russell bits kind of stuck in my head.. and Art Garfunkles head - stuck in my head.. but is it a bridge or a stretch of road that keeps being referenced..
please help. (a confused shane.. who probably doesn't want to re-watch the movie to find out... thanks)
DEAD right, shane. I haven't seen Bad Timing but just doing a quick google there does seem to be a shot with Art Garfunkel standing in contemplation on a bridge, which then gets intercut with Theresa Russell's OP and SEX AND VIOLENCE scenes, etc. (just doing my bit for blog hits here) Couldn't find it in a clip on Youtube, though..
They're an Italo-disco-influenced duo from Stockholm, very much like Sally Shapiro. They're addictive. I got their album, Secret Eyes, around the same time as the Annie one and have barely listened to the latter.
I was just listening to some Kate Rusby (Who will sing me lullabies?) wot one of you good folk put in the Dropbox a week or two back. It was lovely. So thanks, whoever that was!
Ooh, last week's list is up. Think DsD is keeping up his winning ways - had a little heart lurch at the ref to World Party but his nom not mine. Curses!
From the Wild Beasts album, Limbo, Panto - 'Brave Bulging Bouyant Clairvoyants'
Im not sure i'd go as far as the music press and compare them too readily with The Smiths. An original vocal sound, original sounding songs - not that hard you would think, in these times - and a sense of location, were only SOME of the constituent parts of The Smiths, but not all of them. The Smith's had more original music than this. But I do get where they are coming from and I like it.
Led Zep - The Rover off Physical Graffiti , and very much looking forward to The Wanton Song. Inspired by an afternoon trip to a pub that used to be a shiny theme bar (a couple of short years ago)that has now mutated into a Rock pub, I like it when that happens.
