'Spill points on offer for:
1. Song Name
**"Sheela Na Gig"**
2. Artist
**PJ Harvey**
*Ten 'Spill Points go to Shiv for getting those spot on. Well done Shiv!*
3. Best witty comment or caption
1st place so far "Enter Sandman", so 5 'Spill points to Ejaydee. Inspirational!
2nd place: "I've Got Wings Irene" by The Amazing Pilots, so 3 'Spill points to Darce for that excellent piece of filth
3rd place: "Open Up" - Leftfield & Lydon, 2 points to Japanther.
There's always bonus 'Spill Points if anyone can top those. With the global recession kicking in, 'Spill Points are currently worth more than Sterling, The Zloty, and processed uranium combined. Moneygeddon proofed, so they are.
As TracyK pointed out, the Sheela Na Gig is very interesting, and is dotted about the place all over the UK.
I never got the PJ Harvey reference until I saw a photo of one in the weekend Guardian, and suddenly the PJ Harvey tune made perfect sense. I've always had the couplet "Sheela Na Gig / You exhibitionist" in my head since the early 90s, and had always thought that Sheela Na Gig was some sort of fabled Pagan, um, chick or something.
There seems to be a lot of debate about the Sheela Na Gig statues, which makes a fascinating read on Wikipedia, if you click here
Personally speaking, I'll go for fertility symbol/goddess over hag-ridden slut, cos I'm an old romantic like that.
The PJ Harvey song itself has some of the best lyrics ever written, and is quite ferocious with it. Which other song features the phrase "dirty pillows", I ask you?
The lyrics are a good read, so here they are to go along with a video:

"Hole Hearted" - Extreme
I claim 2 'Spill points for PJ Harvey and "Sheela-Na-Gig".
Doubt if I'll get the 3rd point for "A hole has appeared in the side of a local church. The Bishop says "I must look into it".
Shiv has reminded me of the other day when I was at the doctor's (now now, stop fretting. It was nothing serious. But thanks for your concern).
Where was I?
Ah, the doctor's.
While I was waiting, an older couple came in all a flutter. The wife was pleading for attention for her hubby even though he didn't have an appointment.
''Nurse, nurse, please!!! He's gone nuts. He thinks he's invisible.''
''I'm sorry ma'am but we can't see him today.''
''What's thr trouble
Very fine examplethere Blimpy: theres some beautiful Sheelas in the national museum in Dublin, along with some gorgeous gold torcs. Interestingly, they've kind of hidden the mucky ladies in a kind of dead end, around a corner. Around the corner from some phallic symbols. Hmm.
disregard the half sentence after the punch line. Thats just a new comedic technique I am trying out for my Vegas show.
er..."you blow through here, the music goes round and round, oo-oo oo-oo oo-oo, and it comes out here."
Shazam!

Sorry...
I've updated the post, thanks to everyone who's left comments so far.
re the japanese porn blogger ( hi! if you're still reading, hope you like our brand of filth also) - the only way to completely stop this happening is to restrict blog comments to registered 'Spill authors only. I think this would detract from the 'Spill ethos. I didn't even like taking away anonymous comments, so I'll probably reinstate that soon - the spam has been relatively minimal and doesn't bother me. I just don't like it turning up in 'Spillers' inboxes.
In other news, PJ Harvey's new LP is on Spotify, and so is the new Bat For Lashes which I'm listening to now (in bed, my pillows could do with a wash, you're right) and it is excellent.
Holy, Holy, Holy?
what with the Yeah Yeah Yeahs album out as well, it's been quite a month for potty mouthed women, no wonder your pillows need a clean.. (sorry!)
I do like the fact that the 'comments' are being discussed and then an answer to the drum roll quiz from 15 May 2008 pops into my indox.. quizzes like comedy and drumming needs good timing.
@shane - the quizzles seem to be amongst the most long term popular spill posts according to the figures, that and posts about how to cook haggis....
The YYYs were good on Jools last night too.
Prince "Sugar Walls"
Thanks for posting this Blimpy. Not only did it tell me something I didnt know, its also one of the best songs of the 90's. Sad to say that I never enjoyed anything Polly Harvey did subsequently even half as much as this first album. She was the freshest thing on the menu at the time and I took to it immediately, but since then, almost nothing.
