Sitting here tonight with beer listening to all those great songs. I was only a fan since the very early 90's, but I can remember when I first heard them like it was yesterday. They were a massive influence..
Like probably a lot of people my age, I only got into Big Star through Teenage Fanclub, and was lucky enough to see them play some years ago. 'Third/Sister Lovers' is still one of my favourite albums, as is The Cramps' 'Off The Bone', which Chilton produced. I guess we're all just getting older, and seeing the generation we grew up admiring begin to leave.
I'd always meant to check him out (teenage fanclub too) but never got round to it, a real shame that this is the way it's happened. thanks for posting CB.
