Whilst we wait for EOTWQ, here's some new Victoria Bergsman, performing some cutesy summer twee-ggae (I think i just named a new genre!!!) as Taken By Trees:
I had previously declared Victoria as having a sing me the phone book voice, which you can read about along with a brief history by clicking here. Also worth reading the comments for some interesting DsDness.
Anyone ever invented or named any musical genres, or have a fave/hated genre name?

Cutesy summer twee-ggae? Ugh. Give me girly-prog any day.
I don't like this trend of naming genres with genres that already exist, like "funky" and then there was funky house, which apparently isn't the same as the old one.
but ejaydee, what about Wonky?
@aba - but is it as good as Post-Dub Flangecore?
At least wonky sounds., well, wonky. Has anyone else been following the Scene & Heard feature on GU?

nearly 5 million views, in a year!
What I don't like is when they take the name of an existing genre and make it mean a different one. R'n'B, for instance.
r'n'b these days is so far removed from rhythm and blues, similarly dupstep, rock n roll (where's the roll?), hip-hop (where's the hop? or the hip?) ad nauseum.
I like twee-ggae. I also really liked this Taken By Trees remix, although I think I was introduced to it by a Blimpy post anyway:

As for genres, I remember a friend of mine talking about Norwegian death-jazz. I'm not sure if he made it up or not.
TFG: Like 'acid jazz' perhaps, it has not much to do with either.
Twee-prog?
Or even 'twee-prog-dream-on' !
I'll get me ... 'jamas on and go to bed, shall I?
@gf - i couldn't agree more
i'm a sucker for a good sub-genre and like to categorise as much as possible!!
After some consultation with the bloke in the record shop I picked up some Skweee music in Helsinki last year. To my amazement GU ran a story on it a few months ago.....which was (perhaps rightly so!) largely ignored by most of the GU community.....a little late to the party, but better late than never.
p.s. the album I bought is by Eero Johannes and has a song on it called "We Could Be Skweeeroes"!
Personally speaking i only listen to Snurfle, ...and Post-Snurfle, of course...
Back in the eighties someone coined the phrase "psychobilly" which led me to muse on other possible jammings together of genres.
Rastabilly was my favourite. Had it quoted back at me after someone did a dub version of a Stray Cats song.
