Still stumped on the covers question, which seems strange. I asked Mr. Steenbeck, and here are a few he thought of (in a FTBT kind of way...)
He said, I always liked the Pixies Surfer Rosa, (naked woman, you know...)

Surfer Rosa is a thing of beauty in every sense. The first Ramones album gets me too - I remember hearing that Dee Dee had just stepped in some doggie doos only moments before it was taken.

Simon Larbalestiers photos and colour copier images for Pixies/4AD were stunning - in Emigre magazine the male mid-riff images were used - it wasn't just topless females - But I imagine they wouldn't have been as widely remembered (by the males here) if used on the album sleeve!
