I can't pretend for a moment that Cathal Coughlan's as cute as Clare Grogan (I think this is a truism whatever gender or sexual persuasion you might stand possessed of) but nevertheless debbym, this is for you. Have a good one...

Aw shucks, TB, I'm really touched (wipes tear from eye). My kids woke me up this morning with "It's Your Birthday Today" by the Fimbles - Fimbles being cuddly stripey creatures from Planet Cbeebies for those who've yet to have the pleasure - so it didn't even have to be Ms. Grogan to be much of an improvement!
It's msdebbyjr's turn on Thursday, so I expect I'll be suffering the Fimbles' birthday song till bedtime (though I happen to know les grandparents have kindly dug deep for a *Best of the Tweenies* compilation); party Saturday afternoon!
@ you're welcome debbym. That party sounds like fun - how old will msdebbyjr be? I do miss my daughters' kid's parties. They wouldn't let me near them now...
Msdebbyjr will be 11 (though I'm quite certain parts of her would pass for at least 12 1/2)... but thanks to an extra chromosome she's actually more like a 2 - 3 year-old, so we'll be having lots of balloons, bubbles and general mucking about. It makes quite a change from her big brother, just turned 13; I get the bost of both worlds really, teenage angst balanced by a lot of baby cuddles!
(sniff) those red onions are strong eh? Listening to Microdisney and Terry Evans may have made me a bit lachrymose too. Belated Happy birthday Msdebbymjnr. I think balloons, bubbles & mucking about sounds like a good idea for anyone, regardless of age.
@toffee. Boy, you really don't want to be around when the female subadults party. Even when their friends think you're not too uncool you are dismissed like a geriatric incontinent hamster. "Yes, it looks quite interesting but it's boring and embarrassing after a few seconds. I tired of it eight minutes after I persuaded them to buy it. Now, hello, this is MY party? ME? ME? You can go and clean up the mess in the living room now dad. And don't come up here again."
Then they raid your CD collection and blame it on the nerdy boy who was doing the music. We trashed your CDs but we deny listening to them.
Gah.
happy belated birthday, debbym...and just to cheer you up, they closed comments on RR again...
@ proudfoot - I always loved my daughters' birthday parties. Loads of young 'uns just enjoying being young and carefree, eating lots of ice cream and jelly, and playing games that sensible (sober) people would be far too embarassed to join in. Never stopped me...
