Those would be mine too. Another of my favorite films, Local Hero, deals with job security too..
And just to wind Snadfrod up, Citizen Kane has unemployment as one of its many profound themes, a statement I make with confidence becaise, being the greatest film of all time, it provides a philosophical base for every question known to man. (I didn't like the part where they killed Rosebud and put him in that guys bed though. Such a tragic end for a nice horsie)
I was going to post that Full Monty clip when I got home, DsD, you annoying person you. I like the film but I'm always surprised that people think it's a comedy.
I forget what year it's set in, but when I was on the dole the You Sexy Thing scene couldn't have happened, because you don't just turn up at the dole office to sign on: you have to go at a specified time which is based on alphabetical order of surnames. So the likelihood of them all being in the same queue at the same time is probably nil.
Just watched The Commitments with the family. Hadn't seen it for 15 (?) years. Forgotten how good it was. Great film - great music - great lines. "We're black and we're proud!"
