It's an ad, Jim, but not as we know it.
Want an album that fits halfway between King Creosote and Arcade Fire? With an album cover that features Sigur Rós (the girl herself, not the band named after her)? Before its physical release, so you can give it the old "Oh I've been listening to them for a-a-a-g-e-s" treatment? With four bonus tracks that won't be on the album? For the princely sum of ONE DOLLAR?
If so then head on over to - http://www.fanfarlo.com/ like I did.
My first ever paid-for download is excellent value for money, and one of the reasons why I haven't listened to much of the French music yet. (Sorry to ejay, fp, Shoey, tfd, Toffee, steen, Gordon and SV80 - how do you want us to refer to you, btw ShariVari?)
You go' waan dorra? WAAN DORRA ONRY, OK?

That looks rather good value.
Either name's fine. I had a Blogger account under ShariVari already set up and couldn't be bothered registering a new one under SV80.
Bought it.
A buck, eh? Well, that's rather good value. It's Monday; it's an album: is it Album Of The Week?
Oh! Er ... Album Of The Week? Um, dunno, hadn't thought of it like that.
I have already had one turn, so if anyone had anything else in mind, please go ahead under the AOTW banner.
But if no-one has said anything by tomorrow, I'll expand the post with a better review ...
Is it any good?
i bought it too.
Blimpy: I certainly think so. Less smug than Fleet Foxes, more disciplined than Arcade Fire (in my book that's a good thing), more meat on the bones than KC, less ethereal than Sigur Ros (if you find Jonsi a little too out-there), more joy than Bright Eyes.
Not necessarily ground-breaking, and maybe I'd only give it 7/10 if I was reviewing it for somebody serious, but it is excellent vfm, and has been a very pleasant counterpoint to a soul-destroying cold-calling day in the office.
But at that price, I don't suppose I'll be able to hit them for commission, will I ?!
Anyway, you can hear it yourself on the website; it's streamed.
Like that a lot. Good shout, DsD.
@ DsD - downloading it as we speak - but as a protest against your refusal to listen to anything that anyone else posts, I'm not going to listen to it for 24 hours - and even then, I'm going to listen to it in French. That'll learn yer ...
Stop making me laugh, TB. I nearly had a Southern Comfort in keyboard moment.
Cheers.
@ DsD - I'm sure you're not reading this any more but I just wanted to say that I fucking love this - brilliant. Thank you!
Excuse the gratuitous swearing but sometimes 'really' just won't do...
Cheers, Toffee.
I still like it too. It probably would have got even more play this week, but I had a day where all I had available was the laptop and last.fm's Recommended Radio, so I'm now on a huge shoe-gazing kick with bands I'd never heard before - Rivulets, Arco, Tram, Early Day Miners, etc., etc.
Oh, that and Emiliana Torrini, who I'm beginning to think is Eartha Kitt reincarnated as a trip-hop fan.
I have a physical copy of this, that yes, I've been listening to for at least a month.
It came in a beautiful box with hand stamped track list, beautifully weird postcards all tied up in barber shop string.
was going to ask for the bonus 4 tracks.. but I seem to have those as well.
DsD and every one else who has it.. go to 'Harold T. Wilkins, Or How To Wait For A Very Long Time' about the 3 minute point when it all gets rousing, could you tell me what they are singing?
it sure sounds like "as sad as saneshane" to me and it's making me a little melancholy.. thanks.
it does sound better than the horrible muddy second Arcade Fire album, doesn't it.
Blimey, it IS "...as sad as saneshane"
you was supposed to reassure me that it wasn't!
