As I mentioned a couple of weeks back, the Mick Jones Guerrila Public Rock + Roll Library has been open near my office for the last several weeks, .... so I've been in and out quite a few times.
Loads of period journalism, eclectic LPs, art school kitsch, original Lowry cartoons and all available for picking up, playing with, poring over. There's a screening room showing Westway To The World on a loop and another room with armchairs, a big old telly, VCR and several hundred tapes to while away an afternoon with. Open for another week or so.
If you're in the area, well worth a visit; there's a rehearsal room set up as well with a variety of live stuff going on in a muffled kind of way, if you pick your time right, you may find Mick himself playing along.
Additional interest on the day I was taking pictures; John Ellis - Vibrator, Gabriel band, K Group, Strangler - wandered into shot and went on to tell me that the last time he saw Mick Jones they were having a punch up in the lavs at The 100 Club.
Mick would have been safe if he'd showed up that day though, JE is now a man of peace pursuing his own creative paths to great effect.
Here's what they're saying at Strummerville.com
