Awesome effort there steenbeck.. I may need appoint Talib Kweli as one of my advisors in the new year.. btw, what do you think of Obama's team so far?

Thanks for listening, Nilpferd. When Talib Kweli's good, he's phenomenal. I wish Obama would choose him as an advisor.

I have to admit I'm feeling a bit, I don't know, not disappointed, exactly, but anxious. I'm not saying Hilary wouldn't have been good for something, but Secretary of State? And it seems like she and Bill decided that's what she should get (that she was entitled, somehow); they announced it to the world; and Obama had no choice but to go along with it. I've heard of people getting e-mails asking Obama supporters for donations to pay off Hilary's campaign expenses. Looney. I realize that Clinton was the only democratic president in recent times, so it's likely that there will be some overlap between the Clinton whitehouse and the Obama staff, but...I don't know, I was hoping for some more hopeful change. We shall see....

I'm having a hard time imagining Clinton as a good S.of S too. Not sure why. Maybe it's because one of her biggest gaffes during the campaign was foreign policy linked, ie the Bosnian sniper thing.
Strange though that most recent S.o.S. haven't really been as effective as they should have been, and weird that someone like Albright was probably more successful than Powell or Rice, despite each of the latter being much more qualified for the job. Maybe Clinton has a certain ball-breaking determination which is necessary for the job. Lets face it, she can't be worse than Kissinger, right?
I think you're right about her role having been stitched up by the Clinton clan, but Obama does at least seem to have plenty of fresh blood in his team to date.

Isn't he just wanting to unite the Democrats and repair the damage done during the contest with Clinton?

Thanks for the Riddles song, steenbeck - I didn't know that one. Another riddling song is The False Knight On the Road, where it's a little boy who has the smart answers.

About the riddles song--apparently it's very very old, and does have many variations...

And about Clinton--it just seems so strange, because they agreed on so many domestic issues, but foreign policy was always contentious between them. And...a big reason that I was glad that Obama was elected was that now we wouldn't be such an embarrassment in the rest of the world. And I feel that Clinton represents--well, starting a war abroad to hide the fact that you're having an affair with your intern, mocking your opponent for suggesting that diplomacy is an option...

Well, Obama has talked about wanting a range of opinions, and I can certainly appreciate that he's mindful of trying to unite the Democrats in order to secure a second term. However his assertion that he'll be the one making the decisions will no doubt be tested by the people he's getting on board.. and although I'm not sure HC will be embarrassment-free on the world stage, she's certainly potentially less embarrassing than her husband was. And I can't think of many recent foreign ministers besides Cook, Fischer and Kouchner who have really stood out in the last decade.

Thanks Blimpy, I'm loving the Common/Cee Lo. I like Common's flow, too and just the timbre of his voice. Ooh, and thanks for reminding me that the new album comes out tomorrow.
