DJ selector

I don't have a cat, but I do have a daughter, and I believe in getting your children involved with your music collection at an early age...

even as a toddler, Nilpferd jr could spend ages picking the right track..

um, bonus points if anyone can identify any of the cds.. and send me an unscratched replacement...

Continuing the summer theme, this is where I listen to music on balmy evenings...

I think I see "Slack Motherfucker" by Superchunk in the pile, but other than that, I'm annoyingly stumped.

Lovely setting out the back, makes me wish we had balmy evenings here (maybe once or twice a year!)

Slack what by whom? Is it any good? Nope. Actually, I'm struggling a bit myself.. it was 5 years ago..

Why, it's a veritable grunge classic!

by classic, i mean it's no bad.

I didnae really get the point with grunge.. flirted with the Pixies and Sonic Youth's Dirty but that was about it.. most of the stuff in the pile must be jazz, drum and bass, electro and funk. I can recognise Everybody digs Bill Evans, two Kip Hanrahan albums, Down to the Bone, St. Germain Cafe, and Logical Progression vol. 1. All amazingly still play...the boxes have a few nicks though..

the pixies, nirvana, sonic youth, smashing pumpkins, hole, dinosaur jr., sloan, pearl jam, all made perfect sense to my 14 year old ears, as did the bands that slightly preceded them/mixed in: ride, lush, my bloody valentine, slowdive, first record blur et al.

oh, and was that a wee twang of scots in the last comment?

I'm a 69'er like Steenbeck, so my ears were that bit older.. I didn't mind Dinosaur jr, and I guess some of the Flying Nun stuff I like- 3ds for example- is ploughing a similar furrow. MBV is PDB. Just a wee twang, the rest has been flattened by kiwispeak.
