We spend a lot of time talking about the music we listen to, but no time about where we listen to it.
With this in mind, this is my bit - as taken 20 minutes ago, with The Raveonettes "Lust, Lust, Lust" LP on the turntable.
Mewsli just happened to jump up when I started taking photos - the tart!
I really do hope this is the first of many posts on this theme from the rest of the 'Spill team, as this sort of thing totally fascinates me.
(bonus points if you can name any of the records in the picture - it shouldn't pose much of a problem, unless you're going for the ones where only the spine is visible...)

Your cat looks like one of mine, known as 'the brown cat' to distinguish him from 'Chips'. He's not friendly but he's trying.
Nice Yellow.
Patti smith, horses? I love this idea, blimpy. and I love the name Mewsli.
Nice Corb chair, Blimp, and Nouveau lamp.. Eileen Gray table... very comfy. I'll post a picture of a Deutsche Bahn suburban train tomorrow.. that's where I'm doing most of my listening at the mo'..
Excellent work, Nilpferd, spot on!
And steen, correct with the Patti Smith. Mewsli as a name is a result of a really bad joke I made up - "What do cats have for breakfast?"
I would also like to point out that I do have lots more records and cds, but they're not allowed to be kept in the lounge. The stuff you can see is the current listening.
goneF - i love the yellow in this room, it was inherited from previous owners, but I'll never change it. i've limited the colours in the room to yellow, dark brown, green, and deep red. There's no blue allowed!! luckily my kitten fits in not too badly.
I can't wait to see inside more RR homes, I do hope it happens, or see anywhere else people do their listening (a la nilp).
I'll take a photo here sometime when we clean up, it's not too dissimilar to your place actually; Jugendstil, similar timber detailing and floorboards. We also have some yellow, a bit less egg-yolk than yours, and some nice carpets. The furniture is more Ikea than Bauhaus, but not for want of trying..
He, he, he. This is my Bauhaus corner, tis the only bauhaus in all of my, ahem, haus.
(and don't tell anybody, but they;re not original le corbusier or eileen grey pieces - there's a company in Italy that do amazing and identical knock offs for tiny amounts of cash, they don't have the same copyright laws in Italy, I believe!)
Can't wait to see other Readers' Homes.
oh, also, if anyone wants to receive email bulletins of new comments as they are posted, please make it known and it shall happen, it saves trawling through the blog. there;s about 10 spots left for this.
Do you really need a picture of the inside of a Rover 75? Or of my explosion-in-a-stationery-shop office desk? I think not! I sympathise with the lounge restrictions, though. Since we binned the stereo in favour of just using the DVD player, I'm not allowed ANY shelf/drawer space in my own lounge. And now that we're down to one cat, DarceysMam has banned poor old Buxton from the comfy seats too.
My cat has his own Barcelona chair in the conservatory, so there! 'Tis true, it's an old one.
I too sympathise with the lounge restrictions. Because we live in a cupboard, and Mrs Abahachi has curious prejudices about the amount of space permitted to be occupied by records, at least 75% of my collection resides in cardboard boxes in the loft.
I'm impressed that people manage to impose furniture rules on their cats; we're lucky to be allowed to share the sofa if they're in an especially generous mood.
You've now ruined my mental image of your rural idyll, blimpy. But good to see your room matches the blog.
glass, I did indeed design the blog sat in this very room, and did rip myself off, so to speak. good connection.
The rural idyll is just out the window, honest!
i have to go now, one of the cows is in the wine cellar again....
I was just going to post a picture last night, but didn't have time. Then I thought about it when I couldn't sleep, and where I listen to music became about what my whole life is about now. And I think I have to make a whole photo essay. COming soon.
Hmm, couldn't see the Bauhaus records but obviously that's Mr Jones's Heroes keeping Patti company and could that be a Velvet Underground box set perched on top of the LPs?
Amazing deduction about the VU box set! And obvs, you are correct about the 2 lps.
I think that Bowie cover could be good for a sleeveface.
