What's with the typo on the gravestone?

And can it be a typo if you're engraving?

Does the word engraving come from graves?

Does the word window come from wind-door?

Do you dig graves?

What was the joke Reeves and Mortimer used to do that revolved around "bloody holly"?

So many questions?

That was the real spelling - and as the rest of the family are buried all round I suppose they thought it would look odd if his name was spelled differently!

All together now..."E's a good, E's a good. He's Eberneezer good!"

Makes you think, doesnt it? What possesses a person to take one letter out of their name, especially in the pursuit of fame?
In this case, one wonders, was it because it took the name one step away from 'hole' or one step closer to 'holy'? Any Buddy aficionadoes out there with the bottom line? Love to know.

sourpus, this is what I heard (although the story could be wrong):

The name was misspelt on his first contract, and Buddy liked it better that way and decided to keep it. His real name was Charles Hardin Holley btw. And, I AM that aficionado - or maybe aficionada.
