Quick Quiz

OK, here is a quiz challenge.

Here are four tracks. The first three have one common link.

What I am looking for here for the first three tracks is the Artist, Album Title and Track Name in each case, plus the link.

For track four, I want Artist, Album Title and Track Name, plus the thing that links the artist of track four with whatever or whoever or wherever links the first three tracks.

Have fun.

Track 1
Track 2
Track 3
Track 4

Darn it, I'm getting the titles come up again whenever I click on a track. How do I turn them off?? (They appear on a bar right at the bottom of the screen). I'd like to get this sorted so I can play along too (next time)!

Debby, I get that too on my Windows laptop, I've never noticed it before on my Linux PC.

I don't know how to stop it.

Right. I have edited the track names in Boxstr and now they are anonymous.

okay.. I had a go
and would hazard a guess at some of Crosby Stills and Nash in 2.

and thats it. Rubbish.

When I had Firefox I had an add on called Foxy tunes or something that named the tunes and popped up with were to find videos and wiki articles... (I search these things out if I want it) not in my face all the time.

but I can't help in how to get rid!

Thanks for the playlist Carole - I like the laid back groove these tracks are in.

As to the quiz, track 1 is the Dead "Greatest Story Ever Told", and track 3 is the New Riders of the Purple Sage "Dirty Business" from the eponymous album. As Jerry Garcia played pedal steel with them, I'm guessing there's a Dead connection here. And Saneshane is on the right lines, 'cos track 2 is CSNY "The Wall Song" (can't remember which album). And EJD must be spot on with Dr John in the tie breaker song. But I can't see a Dead connection with these latter two.

So I'll claim six points (said in French) and hand over to the brighter sparks in the bonfire to crack this one.

BTW, I used to really love NRPS, and Hot Tuna - must dig them out again...

Well, glasshalfempty is getting there a fair bit.

Track 1 is "Greatest Story Ever Told" but it isn't strictly speaking by the GD here (OK this is a technicality), so what album is it?

Track 2 is "Wall Song" but it isn't CSNY

Track 3 - 100% correct

Track 4 is Dr John - album? song title?

So, let's see what others can come up with here.

Any ideas about the link?

Hi Carole. Track 1 is, of course, from your newly-acquired CD of 'Ace' by Mr Weir, is it not?

Can't improve on the other answers, though...

Are the links Garcia/Dead and 'Iko Iko' as the Dr John song that everyone plays/played?

(I know that the origins of 'Iko Iko' are actually older but I, for one, think of it as a Dr. John song.)

Or am I crap even at Dead-related quizzes?!

Carole said...

Yes, it's from "Ace", Bob Weir's solo album, that all the Dead play on.

Iko Iko, that's not the link though.

Sorry, Carole, apart from spotting Dr.John by vocal style, I don't actually know any of these!

I'm thinking Dr. John THE NIGHT TRIPPER. Anything to do with trips??!

Anonymous said...

Nearly there, debbym! As you say, Dr. John is The Night Tripper. Jerry Garcia was Captain Trips.

This is Carole - nice link there Chris, but not the one I was thinking of myself.

My link (hint, hint) is a bit more digital.

In case anyone wants to know the artists on track 2 - it is Graham Nash and David Crosby, from their eponymous album and the GD are playing on this track.

The linking factor for the first three is Jerry Garcia - so congrats to everyone who were heading towards that, particularly Chris (who I expected to get this).

Aaaah, so Dr, John has part of his left ring finger missing, following a childhood accident, and Garcia had part of his right index finger missing, for a similar reason.

Bingo - the prize goes to Chris!
