By a long chalk, the film wins. Co-written by Dave EGGERS? Indie.

The Twilight Sad, on the other hand, sounds altogether heavier and prettier. Cheers Blimp.

I think Eggers edges it (hey, he's involved with the Spike Jonze Where The Wild Things Are movie - indie OVERLOAD!)

I apologize for being such a cranky old thing But Mendes, NOT INDIE! Fucking academy award darling American Beauty! Fucking (Cool but?) academy award darling wife, Not indie not indie not indie. And Dave Eggers is just a very very lucky fellow, I don't consider him indie, I rate him pretty close to Tarantino, and don't get me started on him, because I've already cursed too much. I have to say at this point that I absolutely and completely respect Eggers for helping out other writers and doing that curator thing. I really really do. But....

I've thought about this, and American Beauty has a lot of indie aesthetics to it. I love that film. Lester Burnam would be a great name for an indie band. Plus KW is quite indie too - she's not a hollywood sell-out, if it is indeed possible to compare starlets and indie.

Sorry, Blimpy, I felt bad about my answer. American Beauty was very good, I've liked Kate Winslet in everthing I've ever seen her in, Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius was powerful and very moving. And McSweeny's is a wonderful and generous way to use the attention he got. Sorry.
