? out of 10 Spillers say .....

The immortal Shoey, on another thread here on the wild frontier we like to call The Spill, pondered whether we have gone poll mad.

He may have a point. Let's vote.

I'll put up a poll forthwith!

Q. Do you like polls

A. Yes

B. No

C. Don't know

Will that do, Tinny?

I refuse to take part.
Anyone joining me, put up your hand.

Jeez, I wasn't even asked!

ok, who is in favour of Blimpey's wording above?

omg, how presumptuous of me.
Who is in favor of me being the one to ask who is in favour of blimpey's wording above?

This may not be the thread on which to raise anything remotely practical, but can anyone confirm whether the appearance of the dollar sign on the ChipIn! thing means that one enters an amount in dollars or that one enters it in sterling but it appears in dollars? I don't really want to risk Mrs Abahachi's wrath by committing £60 by mistake when I meant to contribute £40 and converted it into dollars. Does that make sense? Vote now!

Herr Hachi,
I think you enter it in dollars (having consulted your universal currency converter first).
I will only be donating a relatively small amount to this project, I'm afraid, as relatively small amounts are all anybody'll give me to play with these days. If this all goes haywire (if we can't even decide on a name, for example), then I'd ask Blimpy to take my share of the dosh along to the next Social - should be enough for a pork scratching or two...

Also @ Herr Hachi - How's your cycle sponsoring coming along?

I don't think it's 'poll madness' specifically that's afflicting this group, there's so many other varieties.
Aba: It makes no sense whatsoever, but not in the way that you suggest, it would make more sense to contribute it to the bicycle business.
Yours Sincerely,
The grumpy old curmudgeon.

Actually, was just trying to draw attention to a double entendre that struck me funny; so feel free to stick a poll up whenever the fancy takes you. Quite liking being immortal - death is so overrated.

I think they are great too. Hope no one thought I was being satirical or anything meaningful.

er, I imagine you have had a long day. But won't the new post be obvious when you, well, post it?

tincanman said...

oh shut up and leave the man be

ToffeeBoy said...

Just because you're alive, doesn't mean you're immortal.

ToffeeBoy said...

Sorry, that sounded more threatening than it was supposed to ...

TB, shamed by your reminder earlier this week re GW Mclennan, I've just uploaded my ten to a memorial file on Dropbox, together with a text file.. if you feel like putting up a post and adding your picks of the tracks I've missed, it might make a nice first "occasional memorial post for late and sorely missed artists"..

ToffeeBoy said...

@ nilpferd - it's a definite for tomorrow evening. Stupidly tired and busy all day but should have some free time late on. Watch that space ...

mea culpa, mea culpa, Congratulations!
I wouldn't have believed it but I still think you're all nuts!

Mixed Nuts Records?

ToffeeBoy said...

@ nilpferd - 11 tracks being added to the Dropbox as we speak. I think we've got a pretty good list. Perhaps we need to create a new Spill post to let everyone know it's there?

nilpferd said...

Definitely TB- I'd say you have carte blanche as far as creating a post goes, seeing as you had the idea first- also as my posting abilities are somewhat limited currently.

I( think B-Mac is right on the money, Mixed nuts says it all, perfect name.
OK, as the grumpy old curmudgeon hereabouts can I toss in my 2 cents worth? I think you're going at it totally ass-backwards, there seems to be more concern for the name of the label than anything else, as if that mattered, you've come up with a dozen variations that include 'spill', is that important? What about the talent? If somebody had said there's this great new local group who I think really need supporting and how about if we sponsored them for a mini recording session, like everybody could chip in a few quid and we'd help 'em along, [before Columbia or RCA bag 'em.]
Or, I liked that early idea that came to naught, how about if we sponsor one of those homeless guys playing on that youtube video, now that idea has merit! First off there's already an international audience and we know there's talent there; somebody's already done all the PR legwork and the initial advertising. Were a recording to be made it could be posted up on Youtube right next to the video that already had umpteen million hits. Plus consider how the Guardian might react, 'Our local RR lads create hit single for homeless musician seen here' they'd have the Spill all over the front page with full color photos of El Blimpo and an interview by one of their ace reporters! It seems that it would make sense to take advantage of all that given that you're still wondering about talent?
Just a thought.

You know goneforeign, you are the only one who has noticed/commented on that video or the idea to use it as inspiration for our record label. I didn't bother bringing it back up again since there was no interest, but I do think it is the way to go and you are now my favorite RRer for the next 5 minutes.

and now it is buried here where no one will see it lol

ToffeeBoy said...

@ tincanman - I'm watching - and I thought I was your favourite ...
