We got your number mate...

Nah then me old cockers - hars thi doin? When i got asked to be in this here fillum about numbers and t' glorious effect thereof on t'human brain & spirit, me fost thought were "gerraway wi thi - whata loader ol' bollocks": but, wi a bit of a good script and some smashing casting we ended up wi a raight bobby dazzler of a fillum - probably even better than t'other great number fillum "Rain Man". What am i guin on abaht? Some quotes from yon fillum:
"What truly is logic? Who decides reason? My quest has taken me to the physical, the metaphysical, the delusional, and back...is only in the mysterious equations of love that any logic or reason can be found."...very true tha nos...
"Despite my privileged upbringing, I'm actually quite well-balanced. I have a chip on both shoulders"...
"See if I derive an equilibrium where prevalence is a non-singular event where nobody loses, can you imagine the effect that would have on conflict scenarios, arm negotiations... "...on t'way t' St. Cath's...
So, points for 1. fillum 2. actors 3. the theory?
PS : unrelated - why are comments closed for "Numbers" on RR - what's going on?

The only math related film that comes to mind is Pi?
and re. question #2, it's probably that they realised their error and shut it down before it broke a thou.

You could be right - but strange how they shut it down on 667 (not the number of the beast...)

You have now well'n'truly left my crappy film knowledge trailing in your wake, gremlin: I haven't got a scooby ...

Re RR - don't know what's going on, but I very much doubt RobF will do anything about it either way.

I'm a bit worried that the early closing of comments is linked to the new 'community standards and participation' guidelines, published last week: http://www.guardian.co.uk/community-standards and that they see this as just a bit of tidying up of the deadlines and off-topic content. So it may be an unintended side-effect of trying to control the vitriolic ranting elsewhere on the Guardian's site.

I've sent a reasonably friendly e-mail to their e-mail contact: community.suggestions@guardian.co.uk to ask that they let us keep talking.

Sorry gremlin to ignore your main topic - that'll be a "don't know"..

Yep it's back up and running so well done to those RR-ers who got that little bit of nonsense sorted.
So, daddypig - you're stumped? well, I won't "Crowe" about it then...

Got it, thanks to your terrible pun, Gremlin... it must be A Beautiful Mind

@satankidneypie - well done - but what was the theory expounded? can you get all the points here? Clean sweep? Who's going to "Russell" your feathers?!

Well he won a prize in later years for his Game Theory but I'm not sure that that's what he was working on in the film (infact you could say that he wasn't actually really working on anything in the film - except his delusions).

@gordonimmel- you only gorn and wrapped it up my son- shares the points with Saidkiddleydiddleipie. Or is it "pi"...
