Self Portrait - The Artist As Young Man

I took this photo 23 years ago at (gulp!) the tender age of 22.

I'm not exactly sure how I managed to take this photo on a cheap automatic camera without including the details of the mirror but I've always found it strangely haunting.

Also beautiful. I love the graininess, and your expression, and the circle of light around your face.

I like the grainy London war film look.
He's off to war in the morning ladies, queue forms to the right.

Great picture for the cover of your forthcoming book, lots of space for titles etc.

The graininess is mainly due to the restrictions of my scanner. The original photo isn't that bad.

I assume the strange lighting is that the flash didn't go off so the light is from the window which was behind me and therefore shining off the mirror onto my face.

The position of my face on the photo is pure chance. I just held the camera at waist level and guessed at the angle required to get my reflection back into the lense.

@tincanman, the ladies have never formed a queue for me (except in my daydreams, ofcourse!).

BTW, how do we persuade TaiwanGuy not to waste his time here. We've already seen the message. Does he/she manually download it to every sight they find or is it on some sort of automatic search-and-upload?

What I like about it G is that it's not at all dated.

Spookily James Joyce in younger days, juniorimmel. Can't imagine what JJ would have made of deep Purple though...

(Only joking, mate! I can't get too abusive or the pics of me in one of a selection of pink T-shirts will no doubt appear!!)
