FREE Big Sexy Festy Party

I'm just dropping in briefly to post about something special I heard about then I'll scurry back into my den to go back to lurking.

I've resisted posting here for as long as I could. I've been posting on the Guardian music blog for a little while, RR and other bits of it, trying to contain my online music jabbering. As much as I've enjoyed reading the Spill, I know posting here will make my essay-prevention procrastinating even harder to rein in.

Aaanyway, I volunteer with Crisis, the homelessness charity and we're being supported by the Big Sexy Festy Party in September which aims to cover 10,000 Christmas dinners for homeless guests at the annual Crisis Christmas which is an amazing feat of goodwill and organisation. Breathtaking really.

I hadn't heard of the BSFP before this week. Maybe the other RRers/Spillers have been before. It sounds briliant so I thought I'd mention it here. It's huge, it's free and it's all built on goodwill and a belief in "excellence in music", a bit like the RR blogs which have really been a pleasure for me lately.

Saturday September 5th in East London :

Thanks, Caitlin

Hi Caitlin, I've noticed you on a few blogs recently, your posts have struck me as fair and balanced and you seem like a proper music lover: think you'll fit in just fine!

Erm, tin, I think that could be misinterpreted...

haha! "Fresh meat!" - not a problem. I not a fraidycat. No dodgy message perceived.

And Tracy - thanks for the YOUR lovely welcome too.

Welcome Caitlyn: now get involved on the Questions of the week thread, so we can get to know a bit about you: either that or the rabid split between the sprout factions will see you logging out really fast!

Rabbit on a spit?! now that's really going to drive a wedge into the 'Spill rump..

Welcome indeed Dangerpuss. We've not really "met" over on GU, I don't think, since I retreated back to RR only. And kudos for you being committed to one of the few causes my charitable givings touch on.

If you're in London, are you going to the Union Tavern tomorrow night?

Thanks for the invitation to the do. Yes I'm in London and I'd love to come but I already have plans. Definitely keen to come to another one. It'll give me time to not come empty handed.

And yes Crisis is amazing. Quite gobsmackingly effective good eggs. (We're also in the running for a free ad campaign on buses. Vote now!

I'd like to extend a warm welcome too from this side of the world.

I like your style over on RR and Crisis is indeed a worthwhile cause.

If you didn't already know, you can vote all day and everyday. I was in there voting for the Time To Change campaign already .... sharing a lot of territory with Crisis of course. Go Dangerpuss, go ... and the rest of you might get behind one of the social causes cos, f*ck me, free advertising means an awful lot to organisations like Crisis, Mind, Rethink etc ... whereas everyone has to buy butter, lingerie and cranberries .... uh oh ... distracting myself now ... see how easy it happens ...

Vote now and vote often ...until the 27th of July
