Shoey's Album of the Month - July

Oh No, got it down to 4 - but can't decide which one to go with. Here's a sample from each album, which one should be declared "Shoey's album of the month for July"? No write-ins, most votes wins.

A
B
C
D

Based on 30 secs of each it must be C,
please not B.

B.
D was in there, until I heard the phrase "architecture demolition".

Yikes.
We Were Promised Jetpacks is more my usual listening and I like the voice, but the song didn't grab me.

I like Chris Garneau but haven't listened to him in awhile because I am currently off piano-based music.

Bike For Three sounds OK, but I'm too lazy to work out all the rhyming stuff in rap at the moment (it's summer man).

Future of the Left sounds very good. The rage of punk with attention to the music. So that's my vote.

I have to say though Shoey, you're raising the bar a bit with this pre-qualification process.. do we all need to put things up for approval now? This is a reaction to my recent rash of crappy and ill-thought out posts, isn't it!?

OK, I can take a hint..

*Hippo subsides back into goo with nary a sound, bar an almost inaudible sob*

I do like FOTL, and would like to know more about WWPJ

BIKE 63 is fantastic!

he's had an album out since May... Why didn't anyone tell me?

ejaydee said...

A or D for me.

saneshane said...

That'll be D for me.
Vinyl ordered... now shoey what am I going to do til it arrives..

I've got all the tracks out of the tinbox thanks.... hint hint!!!

Although as I'm in a really pissed off mood.. B hits the spot too..

...by the way, I brought the Vs. Children album yesterday and am really liking it...

all great cuts Shoey.

Being a big Mclusky fan my vote goes to Future Of The Left,

Although I was thinking of doing a WWPJP post just a couple of days ago. I haven't got the album but i've heard 3 or 4 tracks from them now and they have all been ace.

Nilp, have yet to see a post from you that could be considered unconsidered. Pre-polling what any of us put up is a terrible idea - but couldn't decide this month.

Shane, hint taken - but won't get to it until tomorrow

Poll closes Thursday evening. Vote early, vote often.

A or D, although I could see liking C eventually. How does everyone know the names?

nilpferd said...

Nobody knows the titles, they are obviously just made up- another sick Tinny joke. God, I'm getting tired of those.. oh, are we on air?

*Ahem*

Thanks, shoey- considerably considerate of you to consider my considered consideration consistent. Or something.
Now I'm off to post some more terrible puns in Blimpy's loft.

In order of preference: C, A and then, some way after, B, D. I like the Sparklehorse-ish C and can't connect at all to songs that seem to consist solely of rhymes, thumps and machine-generated sludge (i.e. D).

B; D (sorry to all architects); C; A.

do we all need to put things up for approval now?

God, I hope not - you'd never hear anything from me!

;0)

I downloaded the tracks then played them. They came with tags showing band name and title.

You wouldn't build a dollhouse with any old tree, would you?

Thought not.

Can't help with this one I'm afraid.

I'm not in the mood for anything as introspective as A or C tonight. Having said that, B is too shouty, D is too monotonous. Those opinions are unlikely to change, whatever my frame of mind.

I'm voting for Richard Pryor's spendthrift mayoral option ...

In the fine tradition of hijacking Shoey's posts, I'll just put this here.

Who's doing EOTWQ this week. According to my notes from the last meeting of the 3 branches of 'Spill government, DsD has a place reserved in the queue, but we don't know which place.

I have 2 more questions to give away, if anybody else is interested in hiring a ghostwriter.
And I'll take full advantage of this threadjack to point your attention to this Steenbeck:

What an odd coincidence--I went to public school in New Jersey and I can't get to the end of a sentence, either. And I sell kidneys on the black market as well! Strange.

ejaydee said...

Hardly surprising...

steenbeck said...

Surely it's slightly surprising. I mean, I am a vegetarian. I don't EAT kidneys.

ejaydee said...

Exactly, you can't eat your victims' kidneys so you figure you might as well make a profit.

steenbeck said...

Pre-cise-ly

Actually it's a spooky fit with the vegetarian lifestyle, because a lot of vegetarians don't wear leather (which is harder than not eating meat) and that is why we sell pleather prada or gucci bags.

ejaydee said...

Pleather, uh? That's how I know you're classy! There may be a spot open on Real Housewives of NJ. You'd have to quit your job but you would fit right in. I can see it.

A or D, tending towards D as it's outside my usual listening and I've seen We Were Promised Jetpacks already. Although they do have the best name I've heard for a band since Creedence Clearwater Revival Revival.

A quick check on the ShoeAbacus shows bikes & jetpacks trying to catch up FOTL with Chris Garneau drifting along behind.
