Looks like spring is here, or at least near. I don't think snowdrops are indiginous to California but I have a patch courtesy of a friend in Norfolk on my last trip there, I looked at them yesterday, all in full bloom. About the only things ready to bloom here are dafs and large knife acacia bush [mimosa], It's on the verge of exploding into a mass of yellow. I think there's a picture of it over at my Picasa pics site, look down below for goneforeign's photos and there's a 'garden' section there. We bought a lot of vegetable seeds from an interenet mail order place, today's the day to start them in trays, we'll keep them indoors 'til Mar/April.
I'm amazed that California is so like Scotland, gardening-wise...I'd be starting off veg, too, about now if I grew any veg (I leave all that to my sister); what I will be doing this weekend will be starting off a new lot of sweet peas - the first lot, autumn-sown, are currently battling with the rain, wind and snow outdoors.
What's that? you haven't any rain, wind and snow? Oh, well, that's the difference then.
We've had rain, it's hardly stopped for about 3 weeks, something over 12", plenty of flooding, the freeway into SF was closed under 2ft of water and hurricane force winds about two weeks ago, knocked out much of the electricity for several days, I blame George Bush.
