Herewith the reason why I couldn't make it to the Social: the newest member of the family, doing his best to live up to his semi-namesake (brooding, playful, endlessly curious...).
He's a Havana, one of the forms of Oriental - so, lots of Siamese in his pedigree, and all the usual interesting personality traits. However, in case that makes him (or us) sound too posh, I should add that he's virtually a rescue cat; he comes from a litter that turned out to have medical problems, as two of his siblings died suddenly at about 6 weeks, the people who'd agreed to buy him changed their minds and the breeder was then desperate for anyone to take him on.
Which reminds me of the time when my stepdaughter's boyfriend first visited the house and was introduced to our rescue greyhound. "Oh, what does he rescue?"
Aha: Do you give him catnip, we have a large patch in the garden and yesterday Gina stuffed some into an old sock and tied it and they go nuts with it, an eternal plaything. Our last cat used to love to go and roll in it and sleep there all day, I think it's do do with it's smell.

Is that a special type of cat? I ain't never seen none o them before!
That's a beautiful cat, what sort is he? We had a Siamese for about 15 years and he was absolutely one of the family, I love cats. Keep us up to date.

All my cats over the years have been rescue cats, i think it's very important.
Blimpy
I miss my cat. I also wish I hadn't become allergic to cat hair all of a sudden.
