Maybe it's the weather, maybe it's the ingrained national inferiority complex, who cares.
Here's some lyrics from a few of my current favourite tunes:
"And we're all listening to down-beat shite,
We over-did the good times and now we can't sleep at night"
"I'm armed with the past, and the will, and a brick
I might not want you back, but I want to kill him
Leave the rest at arm's length
Keep your naked flesh under your favourite dress"
"Girlfriend, it's you I'd scuttle ships for
Make my first mate walk the plank for
Admire the all or nothing
I'm admiral of nothing at all
Nothing at all"
I'm seeing the first two on Saturday (along with Mogwai and Clinic) which will be fab, and then KC in a couple of weeks.
Hooray for Scots miserablism, it really is a thing of beauty...it really makes me happy.

Wow, what's got Mogwai and Clinic and the others on all together? Please report back on the new 'gwai stuff, if you can make it out from all the other stuff (one time they played My Father My King and I swear I thought it was about five different tunes...).
As for miserablism, all my fave downbeat stuff at present is on Alopecia by Why? Particular respect has to go to the opening of 'Fatalist Palmistry':
"I sleep on my back / cos its good for the spine / and coffin rehearsal."
Triptchye 2008 in Glasgow at the Tramway has from 3pm on saturday (deep breath) mogwai, dirty projecters, clinic, frightened rabbit, malcolm middleton, errors, correcto, magic markers, rememberremember, and possibly something else. all for a bargianous 20quid!!!
i'm secretly hoping mogwai will play young team in full as a practice for the 'don't look back' shows they've got coming up shortly after this one.
do you have a link for the tune you mentioned, please?
Blimpo: Does KC mean Kansas City? You took my advice? When do you leave?
You're obviously a very intelligent and lucky young man.
I think KC refers to King Creosote, GF.
Blimpotron, full disclosure time: I haven't a CLUE how to do the uploading stuff. I consider myself to be fairly sensible, though, so am slogging my way into podbean/bozstr/html and all that in an effort to be able to upload tunes/playlists and so on in the near future. I'm going to have a crack at putting up the Why? tune in a new post now, but can links be put in the comments section?
Also, do we know if a playlist can be done on boxstr yet? Cheers.
Judging by the psalm on my palm post, you've got it sussed!
I will do a how-to soon, promise!!
