...tinged with embarrassment that I should even care. To the tune of the Dr Hook classic:
Darcey's Dad's a hero, so is shivsidecar,
And nilpferd, and CaroleBristol,
And Blimpy McFlah,
Mnemonic, BeltwayBandit, goneforeign and ejaydee.
Everybody's making it into the acknowledgements of The Guardian Book of Playlists but me.
I recommended Purple like gordonimmel does
I donded The Divine Comedy like frogprincess does
I admitted to a Barclay James Harvest fixation
Though that did nothing for my critical reputation.
Yes, everybody's making it into the acknowledgements of The Guardian Book of Playlists but me.
How about "Squawking Chicken in D7#5b9" by the brilliant and undeservedly obscure Lithuanian jazz bassoon player Pjotr Ix?
Well I don't see nothing wrong with that recommendation...

But you are listed on the sidebar of the Spill, if that's any consolation?
The Spill is a very popular blog, and is nearly on its 500th published post - which should happen at some point this weekend - this should be a cause of celebration for 'Spillers and Donders the world over!
*sniff* everybody's making it into Abahachi's Ode to Mild Disappointment but me.
Yeah but you got in the book, so...
ohmigod I'm simply compounding the pain and hurt...
I'm in the book?!?! I haven't seen it yet.
Abahachi, no worries, it would have to be a very epic ode to include everyone on the 'Spill, let alone everyone from RR.
I'm in The Book?
Nah, surely not!
I just used to wind Dorian up with Dead nominations I knew he'd never pick.
I still feel really bad about all the RRers (and now Spillers) that I didn't namecheck in the Run JAMC video, especially after watching it yesterday.
Blimp.
It's fine Blimpy. Really.
I'm not fine, Blimpy, I've never recovered, really.
Right!
I'm deleting the blog!
It's only causing more pain and trouble than it's worth!
That's it! It's over, people.
Switch off your internets, and forget any of this ever happened.
Yeah, Steenbeck, that's not fair. You can't expect the cool, popular gang with their busy lives to remember us little people hanging around the periphery. For shame! (Like me, please like me)
Blimpy, I've already buried my internet in the garden, so, as per your advice...
@steen - your last comment has actually had me in fits of hysterical crying giggles - i feel completely bamboozled! too much!!
steenbeck, get t'other Steenbeck to go dig up your Mac, and crank up the garageband: I do believe Abahachi has provided the lyrics you were searching for previously ...
Oh, and Abahachi, you spelt the description of me wrong: it's
S - A - D - S - A - C - K.
G'night all.
I love you people. And it's only 10 a.m.
Just read this post and I'm still giggling (well, sort of snorty snuffling). Not schadenfreude Abahachi, I feel your pain. I told myself it didn't really matter if I wasn't in the book and that I'd 'joined up' a bit later than some and had sometimes gone weeks without recommending (holiday in Arizona etc). I didn't travel up North from France or Norwich for the social either. Then Blimp left me out of his mash up (I tried shouting 'Proudfoot' over where he says 'Foufoot' but it didn't cheer me up much) and I realised that I was just a peripheral fairweather wannabe RRer and I should get on with my life.
Then this morning my copy of the playlists arrived and I'M IN IT! And you, Abahachi, are not.
That's cold, Proudfoot.
