Yay, your 3rd single!
Liked it, know the feeling too.

Thanks, Ejaydee. It was really hard not to hide behind a wall of virtual-instrument sound and unintelligible lyrics. I was trying to keep it simple, but that means you can hear how badlly I play guitar and how dopey the lyrics are. It's all for fun though, so that's okay. I was listening to '93 til Infinity again. I'd kind of forgotten about them with all the new stuff I'd found. I wish I could make something that sounded like THAT.

It takes cojones I don't have. I wouldn't go as far as say if you gave me one we'd both have 2. Still, considering all Blimpy left you was alone with this baby without notice, men eh?
Few things sound better than that song.

I'm actually as worried about Blimpy as I've ever been about someone I've never met. Where are you McFlah?

I'm giving him until Monday, I'm assuming he went on a 3 week holiday. His last contribution on the 'Spill was on the 18th of May, with the word "Funny".

Nice one Steenbeck. This would have fitted quite snugly on the soundtrack to 'Juno' which my wife and daughter-of-step have played to death the last month. Hope you don't think that's rude in any way.

Re Blimps.I have some theories.

1.THE MESSIAH PROPHESIED THIS WOULD COME TO PASS THEORY. I quote from the scriptures:
"Blimpy McFlah will be moderating the blog to begin with, until it's up and running sucessfully, then after that admin rights will be made available to whoever wants them. The current state of the blog is only a starting point, anything and everything is open to change..."
Loosely translated into Aramaic this means: A test of faith. Look he left his sandal! A sign! etc

2. THE MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT THEORY:
No, not holed up in Woodstock with Jay Hawkins' hairy backing band but preparing a MASH UP which, unlike Dorian's book, will leave no blogger out. He's waiting to see how muany of us there really are.'Chinese Democracy' got nothing on this. Inside sources tell me at the moment the mash up is so long and convoluted it makes 'Supper's Ready' sound like a single by The Lurkers.

3.HE'S BORED WITH QUIZZES.
Sorry, that's probably partly my fault, but let thee among ye who cast the first stone... etc.

4. THE EJAYDEE THREE WEEK HOLIDAY THEORY. Yeah, you're probably right Ed.

Thanks, proudfoot, I actually thought of the Juno soundtrack as I was working on it. The odd thing is the last thing on the planet I would choose to listen to is "Pretty" songs with female voices. So ????.

What do we do about Blimpy? I don't even know his real name...All I know is I would be happy for a month to see his name on a comment.

There's pretty and than there's what I like. The first 4 singles by Girls at Our Best in the early 80s esp. 'Go For Gold!' and 'Fast Boyfriends' and stuff like Stina Nordenstam:

(sorry, at work, youtube blocked)
I also dug out 'Short Stop' by Sarah Hickman. She had success with 'I couldn't help myself' (yeuch) but the title track is the one that reminds me of your stuff. Maybe that's just me! Anyway I reckon our Sarah had bags of talent until they gave her big hair and a jazzy bunch of faceless sessioneers behind her. Stick to the dub horns!

Thanks for the links, I like the Stina Nordenstam. I think what I said came out wrong--I really like Kimya Dawson, I like pretty music. I'm not sure what I meant. I always have an idea of what I'd like to make, but don't seem to have any control of what actually comes out. I'm going to stop now before I get even deeper into saying things the wrong way.

Was Blimpy at the Northern social? My "First Time" was the africa playlist (I got one in!) and I recently went back to read it for nostalgia purposes, and realized I'd never taken the time to read it back then (You RRers are sooooo.. smart? and Funny? not sure how to describe you.). Blimpy was talking about going to the social if he could DJ and play Toto for 1/2 an hour and if he could let down his bun. SO did he go?

ejaydee said...

Sadly he did not.
How did you come across RR for the first time?

I'd been reading the Guardian online for a few years, because I think they have more "fair and balanced" news than we have available here in the US--even for American issues, especially for middle-eastern issues. Then I saw RR mentioned on the home page, and I followed it for a bit without joining in, as I think many people do. Then I submitted songs, but didn't read the whole blog. Then I started reading all the comments and it was such a crazy entertaining educating irresistible conversation. And here I am today, an RR addict.
