Sing Me The Phone Book. Part 1: Victoria Bergsman

There's a few voices out there, who could sing me the phonebook, and I'd happily listen.
So this is my first entry in an irregular series called "Sing Me The Phone Book"
Part 1: Victoria Bergsman
1977: Born
1995: Forms The Concretes, releases two amazing albums
2006: Departs The Concretes, sings on "Young Folks" by Peter, Bjorn and John
2007: Releases an LP under the name Taken By Trees, which features a song written by Camera Obscura's Tracey Campbell
2008: Releases an inspired cover - check out the youtube below:

Needless to say, I've been following her career since I got the first Concretes EP, and I would recommend everything she's touched.
If anyone wants the mp3 of the song above (the youtube fades out a bit early) let me know in the comments.

And here's possibly the best under-two-minutes-long song ever written;  "You Can't Hurry Love" by The Concretes:

LOVE the dog video, marvellous! We've got two, a Boxer and a Shepherd, they never get trimmed but bathtime's just like that.

Hmmm, why am I not surprised by the winner there?

I'm struggling to think of my ultimate male sing me the phonebook. No doubt when I do, there'll be a blog post in the offing.

re Margo Timmins, DsD -what do you think that she's done this:

Doesn't make it sound that appealing, does it?

I've sent my search engine off looking for a fileshare to sample: I'll let you know.

At the moment I'm obsessed with Follower 2 from At The End Of Paths Taken.

Don't remember DL giving Taken By Trees any big love, and I know I've nominated her a few times. Saw her play here in Dublin a few months ago, and she was amazing. That voice . . . And an amazing cover of Guns 'N Roses' "Sweet Child of Mine". Very happy I got to see her, considering the whole stage-fright thing.

I;m going t see her in May, playing on the same bll as the pastels .

What stage fright thing?

Apparently she suffers from it quite severely, and it was one of the reasons she left The Concretes. She's done very few shows as Taken By Trees too (I think the Dublin show was the first outside of Sweden). She did seem nervy, but not as panic-stricken as I was expecting. There's reference to it at the links below:

@ Blimpy - Re Trinity Revisited:

Meh. I'll stick to the original. As much as I like her too, Natalie Merchant's voice really jars against Margo's. Vic is unnecessary, Ryan's OK (might stick that into a compilation somewhere), but all of the atmosphere has gone.

I'm not keen on the re-visiting past glories bit. Leave it alone if it's great as was.

I mean look what happened to Star Wars...
