Tea and Sympathy - FP's consolation playlist

This list is my nice cup of tea, my warm blanket, my tin of Cambell's chicken soup, my stiff whisky, my box of Cadbury's Roses. Go on then....When the shit hits the fan.... what's your support system?

Ooh yes, good idea, fp. Having missed my trip to the footy with Gordon cos've being snowed in - just for the 90 mins I needed to travel - I'm just in the mood for (or should that be need of?) that. I'll have a think whilst I nip to the paper shop ...

Don't forget to buy the Guardian with the free Battleship Potemkin DVD. I've got me Dad out to buy 2!

oooh FP I'd forgotten how much I liked Cake (musically - I never forget the baked and straight out of the oven sort.)

If I need that kind of comfort listening, I tend to be doing it away from where I can program individual songs to play (tho' I have made one compilation called 'Downer Doubles' that I'm particularly proud of), so I'll pick albums to fit the mood.

That doesn't necessarily make it recommended listening for someone else, because the requirement is for something uniform. A "great" album which rises/falls/LURCHES between rockers, ballads, dancers and muso-virtuoso-showoffery is NOT wanted now.

Mine? In ever decreasing volume order:

Pearl Jam - Ten.
AC/DC - Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap.
Blackfield - II.
Phil Campbell - Fresh New Life.
The Sundays - Static And Silence.
Carmel - Collected.
Jimmy Barnes - Flesh And Wood.
UNCUT covermount Only Love Can Break Your Heart.
Bob Marley - Dreams Of Freedom.
Chris Isaak - Baja Sessions.
Talk Talk - Spirit Of Eden.
Kronos Quartet & Mogwai - The Fountain.
Cowboy Junkies - The Caution Horses.
Matthew Ryan - Concussion.

And that's a SHORT list! If you let me start to play albums with the skip function to hand, I'll be here all night.
