Megapillar



ToffeeBoy, here's an Elephant Hawk Moth caterpillar as discovered in her Derby garden by my daughter Abigail! Why it thinks we'll think it's an elephant is a bit of a puzzle.

tfd - that is one of the strangest pictures I've ever seen in my life! How big is it? It looks like it's about 3 feet long! All I can say is if that's the sort of critters you have in Derby, I'll stick to the soft south. ;-)

Well, you can tell a bit from my daughter's fingers...I think it's about 5 inches long, less when it's not puffed up.

At first I thought those two spots on the top of the lump were his eyes, it almost looks like a cartoon figure. Actually I'm going to keep pretending that the lump is his head.
