Well, damnit, someone had to...

Ok. Right. Deep breath, aaaaaannnnnddddd throw it to the wolves......

Couldn't get my head round magic today, so opted to waste my time in a different way instead - namely by trying to rid myself of the albatross of temptation that's been on me since Blimpy's first podcast. So here, then, is my first effort. I really enjoyed making it, even though it terrified me, and I really hope you enjoy some or all of it.

And now the caveats. It is VERY creaky, as I repeatedly point out during the thing itself (I apologise too much, sorry). The sound levels are rotten, my mic is terrible, there are little plosive puffs of air all over the place, I 'um' and 'ah' like a good-un and I am well aware that three songs early on are almost inaudible. I don't know why that last one should be but if you turn them up REALLY LOUD then you can hear a bit and I didn't have the heart to re-record it all....

Still, in spite of all that, I invite your thoughts, your criticisms and your advice. Either way, I'm doing another one soon, with less mistakes, so you're stuck with me.

WARNING: This podcast contains some sweary talk which made me feel very big and clever. Sorry.

Actually, I'm listening to it back now and - first half especially - the levels are REALLY all over the place. So if I keep suddenly bellowing some rot or other at you then please don't hold it against me...

Are you anywhere near Castlebar, snadfrod?

Ah, Snadfrod, I was going to listen and then mr. Steenbeck's shopmate showed up with 2 bottles of wine, and the rest is history. he's from Ireland, maybe you know him. Donegal anywhere near you?

ejaydee said...

So not near Castlebar then if you're in Kerry and if I know my basic Irish geography.

Cocochocolatebean.com you say?

Sadly not anywhere near Castlebar, ejaydee, your basic geography has done you proud.

And steenbeck, Donegal? You mean Micky John Joe? Of course I know him. Say hi.

Shane - thankyou for understanding my lo-fi intentions. I had hoped it would be endearing and not just irritating...

So, for one and for all:

www.cocoabeanchocolates.com

May I recommend the dark chocolate with sea salt and the gin and tonic. You know you want to.

Yay for the Frodcast!!!!

I'm listening to it just now!!! Great intro!!!

I really enjoyed the frodcast, it made me really happy to listen to it. The music was ace, I have now downloaded the Why? song from Hype Machine - so thanks for that!!

Snad - your banter was ace too, more banter in the next one!!

There is going to be a next one, isn't there? Or has the itch been scratched?

Cheers Blimpy. I really appreciate the positive response. I was feeling a bit lacklustre about it last night, having listened back to it, but then that is probably the weirdest bit, isn't it?

There will DEFINITELY be another one. I was amazed how easy it is to fill an hour and, after I've messed around a bit with equalising levels and all that, I will be on it once more. And now maybe I can relax a bit (I was TERRIFIED and burbling quite a lot) and give it a bit more banter and thrust. As t'were. Cheers.

Any ideas of more stop/starty songs for a new intro?...

A joy to listen snadfrod and thanks for the link (lime and pepper sounds like the one for me!)

I will look out for the next one and you may have to do a 'how to' for the PC set.

Cheers again great company for me late last night by the way...and very enjoyable tracks.

Good 'cast Snadfrod, I loved the opening track and the closer, in particular.

Really good stuff and your chocolate site looks far too tempting. I'll have to pass the link on to my colleagues in the ROI.

Thanks for the kind words Carole and Shane, I'm gaining the confidence to have another stab, at least. And I'm glad the chocolates are looking tempting...

Just so you knows it, though, they mail order around the world and the stuff is available in the UK in those lovely little shops run by Mr Harvey and Mr Nicks. True dat.

I was really enjoying it, till I naviagted away from the page accidentally and then couldn't figure out if I could forward to the point I'd got lost from.

snadfrod said...

I keep doing that too! Maybe one day I'll learn...

Glad you were liking it, anyway!

Tracy, if you click on the file, not the play button, it'll download and open on iTunes or WMP.
