Can I please say 'Thank You'?

I think I've mentioned in passing over the past few months that I've been busy writing a book - in fact, I've spent just about every waking moment since the start of May (in addition to holding down a full time job) writing the damn thing! And, let me tell you, it has not been an enjoyable experience, mainly thanks to the ridiculous deadlines and pressures imposed by my utterly insane publishers. You don't need to know what the book is - suffice it to say that it probably won't be on your Christmas list and I won't be retiring on the proceeds.

ToffeeGirl has of course been a tower of strength throughout the whole process but I just wanted to say that the other thing that's got me through the stress of the past few months with my sanity (almost) intact has been this wonderful blog and all the wonderful people who contribute to it. So how do I propose to repay you all? - no, don't worry, not with a free copy of the book - instead, in true 'Spill tradition, I present to you an appropriately themed playlist (free of any accompanying notes - if you don't know what something is, please ask me).

Thank you!

Don't think I need the notes (hearing Please Stay again was cool), but I would like to read the book. The level of writing on this blog is pretty good and as long as it's not ALL about Dixie Dean, Trevor Steven, Kevin Ratcliffe et al I shouldn't mind too much. Just give us a hint what to look for when it's on the shelves and I shall stump up the cash. Jeez, don't be so modest- you wrote a book. I think twice before commiting pen to paper for a shopping list.

i'm very good at starting things, and terible at finishing them; there'll several half done paintings in my study that i'll never, ever finish.

I have to say you hid the stress very well.. I've also taken refuge here from time to time during the past six months, it's a wonderful distraction... good on you for sticking with it, now let's get Blimpy motivated to finish his paintings..

Toffee is an author? Very cool, congrats!

The shoePhone doesn't have a Podbean widget, so look forward to listening later.

It's later & am enjoying it, especially #4, who is that?

Thanks for all the kind comments.

@ shoey - I'm glad you like #4 - it's the great, the magnificent, the one-and-only Jonathan Richman. You might have guessed!

I definitely wouldn't say I'm an author - I just do a bit of writing on the side. I'm a long way from giving up the day job...

I don't want to sound all mysterious but I'm not going to say what the book is because then you'd know who I am - I know it's not a great secret (and I guarantee that I'm not anyone you've heard of) but I like the anonymity of the RR list and the 'Spill and I want to keep it that way. I will say that it's the sixth book I've written (although this one is actually co-written), it's non-fiction and unless you're already interested in the particular subject, you would find it exceptionally dull.

@ blimpy - Internet Explorer keeps crashing when I go onto the 'Spill - I'm two-timing with Firefox at the moment - any idea what's wrong? It was doing at work earlier so it's not just my PC.

I have no idea, i'm afraid. I've not been near a pc for weeks. Sorry.

I totally sympathise with Toffee's anonymity thing. Respect for that. Loved this list - all good and congrats for haveing the guts to put Andrew Gold in there. It's a real guilty pleasure. Like chocolate and..toffee ice cream! Got a good one with pecan nuts in this week.
