This is my grandson Ivan (he'll be 3 on Monday!) listening to his daddy's iPod.
What will Darcey and Ivan be listening to in 15 years time, I wonder? Will we still be having punk revivals, glam revivals, 1980s revivals, or will there be a completely new kind of music?

Thanks, loans, I had a look but, to be honest, I preferred your earlier stuff with Credit Consolidation International. Close the door on your way out, yes?
TFG - that Ivan is a bit cool, Pingu, ipod and even a beatific face whilst listening to some serious grindcore, no doubt?...
I want a Pingu T shirt like that, what a cutie!
Interesting question regarding music, is there anything new or just interesting re-interpretations of the old?
My most recent new musical explorations have involved band in unusual places (for the kind of music I like) like Greece, Spain and Portugal. A different perspective can sometime re-invent with startling results.
He doesn't look that terrible... Badum-tissh
What I see in his face is discernment, he seems to be trying to understand what he's hearing and he's enjoying it. I hope that in the future he'll find the music of the 60/70's, so much good stuff there.
On a different topic, re. the Ry Cooder tape, I need to be in touch with cauliflower, if anyone can contact her ask her please to email me, DD and others have my address.
The hair suggests "Rocker" & the t-shirt shouts "Raver" - could be very interesting.
I've given up trying to guess what we'll be listening to X years hence.
For years I used the line that "I grew up with my head stuck in Motorhead PA bins - where can music go that could possibly make me go 'UGH!'?"
Then came rave ... and the generation gap appeared from nowhere !!!
The two little MissToffees were brought up on Pingu - he rocks - end of!
Both our girls went through a stage of listening to slightly 'chavvy' music but have safely come out the other side and are now (aged 16 and 13) mainly listening to stuff like The Arctic Monkeys, The Libertines, Kaiser Chiefs, Ash, Feeder, The Pigeon Detectives and The Kooks - so I'm relatively happy with that.
You shouldn't be happy toffee. They're doing something wrong. I was aghast when my Dad sang along to my first Mud LP. (covers of 'Hippy Hippy Shake' etc). It wasn't until we found Slade and 'The Man Who Sold the World'/ 'Aladdin Sane' that we finally managed to alienate our parents. You can only imagine the paternal response to "Time, falls w**king to the floor" that was repeated up and down the land during the 70s. By the time they were listening to Radio 1 and beginning to say things like "This is OK, it's got a good beat" (cringe) we were ready with The Stranglers and the Clash.
@toffee's kids. The Kooks are rubbish! Yer Dad likes them fer chrissakes! Try this;

That'll get his goat! Glad I could help kids. My work here is done.
@ proudfoot - all these subversive elements on the 'Spill - shocking!
