Aah, just ace. Even as a typically greasy teen heavy metal herbert, I loved this. I remember buying the 12" of Don't Talk To Me About Love in the same purchase as a Motorhead LP (@ Penny Lane Records, natch).

Happy Birthday to all the proper-present-deprived January kids!

@ debbym - just what I always wanted! How did you know???

Thank you so much for this exceedingly thoughtful gift - I've always had a thing for Clare Grogan - and you can stop sniggering at the back, DsD...

Strangely enough, ToffeeGirl didn't give me a video of an attractive young woman gyrating around to a pop song, but she did give me some Bose iPod speakers. This is possibly the best present ever - and I'll tell you why.

For the past two or three years, I've listened to music in one of four ways:

- on my iPod (with headphones)
- on my iPod (on a set of small speakers - or a small set of speakers, if you prefer)
- on my computer
- in the car

I now realise that I've been missing about half of every song I've heard over the past few years - i.e. everything in the bass register. Listening through these new Bose speakers is like listening to music for the first time. It's incredible - it's a new joy. I'M IN LOVE WITH MUSIC!!!!!!!!!

No sniggering from me, mate. Don't forget I've already admitted going gooey over someone other than DarceysMam:

Thanks, debbym! - and Blimpy, and everybody. Although I have to say that, as birthday greetings go, my aspirations would be closer to http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=i3JTM5G3o7U .

Happy Birthday to The 'Spill! Success to its supporters! Resolution: will contribute more in '09.

I used to own the same trousers as Clare Grogan. (??....one leg each....?? - Ed.] Didn't get the fan mail, though.

Happy Birthday to all our January children. I was so sure DebbyM had posted Pilot's January that I rushed off to deezer to listen to it. Love Altered Images. I managed to get 'I could be happy' in one of the A-lists and was very happy indeed...
