Ghost in the Machine

I apologise in advance for the complete unlistenableness of this playlist, special 'Spill medal awarded to anyone who manages to listen all the way through without A) throwing up their arms and declaring "but this isn't music, it's just a load of noise, and not even very interesting noise at that", B) topping themselves. Or even anyone who makes it to the end!

I've added a couple that weren't my nominations but were definite donds, hope the nominators don't mind, just wanted to share the music!

Erm.....(try to) enjoy!

Track 1
Track 2
Track 3
Track 4
Track 5
Track 6

Does it count as "making it to the end" if I listened to at least 30 seconds before moving on to the next track? Hum of the Druid got a bit much after a while - though I love the name, and feel I should therefore have another go at some point - and I'm afraid I loathed the Daniel Johnston. Otherwise great.

1. Did indeed sound like a hungry ghost, and then the bell rang to say "food is served" and the ghost stopped being so hungry.

2. Not heard this one in ages! Have you seen "The Devil And Daniel Johnston" ?

Yay! for Suicide and Lightning Bolt (natch). "Cheree" by Suicide is totally in my top 600, such an amazing song!

Love that Hey Colossus track, and can't believe I didn't think of Ghost Rider by Suicide.

I wouldn't say thatr the playlist is completely unlistenable, but it ain't too far off...

Looks like the 'spill medal's going to go to Abahachi! Congratulations sir!

Daniel Johnston IS a bit of a 'marmite' artist, I personally think he's great, but even if you don't dig his tunes, the documentary mentioned by Blimpy above is an absolute must-see.

@SatanKidneyPie - I didn't set out to make it excruciating, that's just the way it turned out! Although the fact that all of these tracks are in my collection somewhere must say something...
Hey Colossus are one of my favourite current UK bands and one of the only British bands to give the noisier US scene a run for their money...
BTW - what album is the LAL track you nominated from? I couldn't find it.

Liked the Mudboy - more squeaky than squelchy & the Colossus. The Druids were interesting for a while but got a bit bored after 4 minutes - did I miss anything? Suicide & Lightning Bolt were great as usual. Albert Ayler reminded me of a more po-faced Blurt. To finish, really liked Burzum - new to me.

I'm a Ghost is from Laughter's Fifth. Worth digging out for a listen to the whole thing - it's a cracking album

The Mudboy was fine, Caspar got on my nerves.
The next couple didn't really do much for me, but I quite liked the Lightning Bolt, looking forward to them releasing Giga Ghost in about 9 months..
Ayler is ok, not one of my fav. honkers though. There are a few nice things on this track, although as ever with free playing I find it hard to get past the banal "frenetic formless blowing" = "hard to define thing like a ghost" reading.
8 was fine musically, I get a bit annoyed with shrieking though.
