2008 - The Leftovers & Overlooked

Gathered up some stuff that I ran across this year, on sampler cd's & the web that wasn't from you lot (I don't think so anyway - feel free to apply for any appropriate credit due in the comments), and shoved it all in a playlist for your amusement. This one's mostly for Shane as payback for the mega '08 compilation he was kind enough to mail to me, but there should be something for everyone. If anyone else feels inspired to post their own '08 discoveries, to help us shake the post holiday doldrums, that would be cool:

Cutout (Exbanding Head Band Version)
You Disappear
Rawnald Gregory Erickson the Second
195Lbs
Monkey Bee
Buriedfed
A Whore Called Renee
Write It All Down For You
Old Virginia Block
Make You Crazy
Runaway Pram
In The Rushes

Wow, Shoey - is that your collection? It looks even bigger than Darcey's Dads! Maybe you bought that one that was on Ebay?

Haven't had a listen yet, but sure will...

Not yet GHE - but one day.....

Hey, good eclectic set. Loved the romp of 'Write it all down for you', and although I can only take country in small doses, 'Old Virgina Block' slipped down easily..

Glad you liked GHE, some of these are in the "close, but not quite there yet" category, but you pointed out a couple of great ones. Look forward to checking out your post later - a few more podcasts & I'm all caught up with 'Spill listening.

I claim credit for Buriedfed, featured in my similar post just before new year's.
Boxster wasn't playing so I couldn't hear everything.

Ejaydee - will have my team of auditors examine your claim. Seem to have several tracks from this album in my iTunes. Great minds etc. It's goof stuff, if a little bleak.

shoey
I will give an opinion of the tracks.. they have been on the pod with me and a vast amount of other song for the last two days...

..but ta very much (do have to say Buriedfed was already downloaded... i do like)
and Runaway pram doesn't work for the ms when she gets in from mellowing out at Yoga ( I liked it though)

make you crazy didn't work for me til femi kuti kicked in...
I bizarrely liked Tiny microphone in a fuzz kind of way..
I did enjoy the N.O.W.. is the album any good or was it just a sampler track?
find myself buying their albums and thinking they are a 'cherry pick the songs you like' kind of band..

enough words from me ..is RR up?

cheers for posting...

Shane, Agree with Ms. Shane in that Runaway Pram's lyrics are an embarrassing mess. Most of the N.O.W stuff I've heard (& there's lots of it) sounds a little unoriginal & dated - but I liked this one.

yep sums up N.o.W for me too..
but once in a while a little gem.

going to sleep on the anti-love theme over on RR as it's too easy to drop into the 'dumped' trap.. but there must be a golden virgins track... or two!

Going to be late to the party once more - how I miss the pre-improvement days of posting on RR from some bar on the shoephone. Am guessing that returning DsD has already laid claim to Rootless Tree but earmark "fears of gun" for myself.

Nice selection Shoey...i've had them on the iPod for the last dew days too, had really wanted to hear something from Monkey - Journey to the West, so thanks for that - not quite sure what I thought of it though...I THINK I liked it!
- other highlights were Elliot Brood, Tiny Microhone and dug the NOW track too

Cheers!
