Dusty's version (I think) is sampled by st.etienne ..

St Ettiene is right, but I don't have the Dusty version. The Aretha version doesn't sound like it was sampled by St Ettiene. I had no idea Kylie had a pop also.

I currently have Fox Base Alpha spinning on the deck. Good stuff.

How did you cheat by the way Steen?

I'm spinning the 7" of 'stoned to say the least' that I got free with the illustrated ape magazine.. very nicely chilled after Abahachis Noyse Annoize

it's not the greatest.. I was just interested!

Blimpy said...

I checked it out, thanks for the link.

Have you heard the Peter Gabriel & Hot Chip version?

Blimpy said...

I think CCKK may have been the first ever piece of music posted on the Spill, by the way.

saneshane said...

I've had a listen.. not much ommph from Hot Chip on that one, but he sounds slightly weirded out singing his own name.. I like that!

i thought CCKK was the first post.. I did some research and my birthday post comes up first.. why is that, I wondered.

then I worked out I must have posted that in safari that I use for getting free american tracks...
they can't get their # the right way round, can they!
1/6 has become 6/1..

party Tuesday then with everyone doing a version of Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa.

Blimpy said...

THAT WOould explain it! that's always puzzled me!!

I'm off to learn CCKK on the guitar!

saneshane said...

The only thing I can't understand is.. why hasn't that happened to shoey and steens posts though?

thought I'd sussed it!

CCKK: ukulele and harmonica version with kids toys backing!

And Shatner vocals:

"Is your..............BED...................made
Is................your sweater........................................................ON?"

saneshane said...

"sweater...................................DOND?"

Blimpy said...

oh, this HAS to be made reality......

saneshane said...

hehe...

Can you stay up
To see the dawn
In the colors
Of Dondathon?

saneshane said...

Is your bed made
Is your spill on
Do you want to
Like you know I do...

(I have designs to do!!!)

Blimpy said...

"is your spill on?" - classic!!!

Shoegazer said...

As a young girl
Bob Dylan
With your mother
and radio on

As a sophamore
with a walkman
and all the albums
you're sitting on

Are your noms made
Is your 'Spill on
Do you want to
Like you know I do

But this feels so natural
Peter Gabriel too

Can you stay up
To see the dawn
In the RR
Dondathon?

(Repeat)

I'm speechless!!
