Really liked the Cinematic Orchestra track, that was a new one for me, I never got Ma Fleur.

The more I think about it, the more I think the Davis quintet's Fall is perfect for this week, no other track I've heard seems to better convey the idea of falling in musical form, Williams' and Carter's dynamics are fantastic- the way they imperceptively shift the focus of the beat and the tempo- Shorter and Hancock are in their most lyrical form, Miles gives one of his last (until the eighties) and best performances on mute behind Shorter's solo, and plays his own solo with naked emotion, plus the structure of the piece itself with the repeated motifs is highly innovative. Some of Nefertiti betrays a band so near abstraction that it was approaching alienation, but Fall is a masterpiece. This would be in my top five Davis ballads.
Sorry to go on about it..

Oops I forgot to nom Melody Of A Fallen Tree, which is by Windsor For The Derby, I meant to check whether it was really on topic, but I really like it.

Liked the descent of trees & stars the best along with whatever Lykke (is that pronounced licky, lick or like?) & Miles were dropping. Cheers

Oh & think your sky falling Blackalicious has the edge over Steen's Blackalicious where the sky also seems to be falling.
