Putting my frazzled technophobic braincells to the test

OK, here is my first go at trying to make available one of the songs I'd LOVE to spread the word about, but haven't ever found a link for.

Just in case this works, I'd better support the posting!

This is Phil Campbell's Evangeline, from 1997's Fresh New Life. Given the huge careers of some lesser talents - a certain Port Vale fan springs to mind - I have never understood why this album isn't regarded as a pop/rock classic.

The socialisers already have this song, but for the rest of you ...

Damn.

According to archive.org it IS there, but I can't get it to play anything more than 3 seconds of the intro in any of the formats on the page.

If anyone gets more joy, will you let me know how you did it, please?

Goodnight all.

Darce, top first post for a technophobe, I'll have a look at the link, and get back to you - I initially couldn't get any joy from it either, but we'll see.

Welcome aboard, and thanks for posting .

Blimpy - Don't ask me how, but when I had another (last-chance-before-bedtime) go at double-clicking the song title in the top right corner tracklist box, it played. WOO-HOO! I wonder if it was just taking AGES to buffer ??

I think I'd prefer to get the MediaPlayer bit sorted though, like you and steenbeck have managed. If I can do that there'll be no stopping me . . .

Exactly! This is just the beginning.

I would go to bed too, but Ziggy Stardust is on BBC4 - I never knew Moonage Daydream could have such a huge guitar solo in it (i think it was so Bowie could change costumes, but still)

Darce, try http://myfreefilehosting.com if you just want folks to be able to download it.

Lovely photo - and Darcy is a LITTLE CRACKER! Hope the leg is gaining in angle by the day. Patience - I went through major back surgery in '95 (all ok) and had to master the walking again too. It all heals over in the end. FP.

DD - the file doesn't appear to be there anymore - not sure if it's been pulled because it contains copyrighted material or something - shame!

Anyone know any hosting sights where this is less likely to happen?

Well, I clicked on that and got 'This item is not available due to issues with the item's content.' WTF? Now I want to listen to it even more...Could we have a topic for 'songs called Evangeline'? There's Emmy Lou's one on Last Waltz and another brill one by Mary Gauthier...

Double Damn.

I'm too tired tonight but I'll try myfreefilehosting soon.

Bloody EMI - they not only screwed Mr.C's career for years, but don't see the bigger picture of allowing ANYONE to hear the songs on the one major release he had.

@ treefrogdemon - you may be on to something here: Ian McNabb wrote a cracking Evangeline for The Icicle Works too!
